Congrats John and Steve! Consistent day and an 18th spot at the end. Car looked great on track and Steve's lap times were consistently 1:48 to 1:49 from where I was timing. Great results for never having run Mid-Ohio before this weekend. It's a technical track.

It's great to finally be able to put faces and names together! Enjoyed the little bit of time we could share today. Hopefully we can spend more time tomorrow and Sunday. Thanks for coming out to support all the Vintage Mini racing folks this weekend!-

Congrats on a fine race.
The way I figure it you guys finished much higher when you discount all those Mini's that were modified way beyond the rules your Mini was built to.
Very nice meeting you guys! Thanks for coming to Ohio land of the donut munching silverback, it was big fun watching you out there. Have a safe trip home to the great irrigated desert.

Lexington native Michael Pinney racing again at Mid-Ohio\
LEXINGTON — A favorite son is returning home this weekend.
Michael Pinney, who grew up near Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course racing and winning there many times in his club career, will be a part of the 32nd annual Mechanics Bank Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. The track’s season-opener will include the 55th anniversary celebration of Mini Coopers.
Pinney now lives in Phoenix and works for Penske Automotive. He’s restored a 1965 Austin Mini Cooper and will drive the No. 51 purple car in the Can-Am Mini Challenge.
Pinney was a regular in SCCA racing circles in the 1970s and early 1980s. He returned to club racing in the early 2000s, capping it off with an F Production national championship at Mid-Ohio in 2003 at the SCCA Runoffs.
He will be driving one of the more than 200 cars entered into 11 racing groups this weekend. Besides the Mini Challenge, there will be two enduros and 18 sprint races. Cars will range in model years from 1955 to 2006 with one Ford sprint car from 1939 slated to be on track.
Of the Minis, there are 55 early entries. Besides Pinney, other national champs in the field will include Doug Peterson and Joe Huffaker.-
