Opening a thread for the Koni Race at Miller MP, Salt Lake City, Utah

This will be our 1st trip West this year. Owen Trinkler won the pole last year in the 196. The car was knocked out of contention late in the race when a back marker GS car ran BJ Zacharias off track, eventually ending up 12th.

This will be the 1st race with the improved engine package recently approved by GA in all the cars. Miller is at 4200 ft so the boosted cars will have a slight advantage. Grand Am has put boost limits on the Turbo cars for this race at 87%. We have no restriction but, pulley driven Supercharged cars are negatively affected by altitude like normally aspirated ones.

Owen and BJ were on the pole last year. Adam and Trevor finished 6th in an Acura. We have track experience and should have competitive cars.

Lady Luck . . . stay close. She has been absent so far this year!! :frown5:

This race will be televised on Oct 3rd on speed. It is a combined race with the GS class.

    Line up:

196 Owen Trinkler and Jade Buford
197 Randy Smalley and Joe Toussaint
198 Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood

I don't know anything about Miller yet but just looking at a track map it looks pretty MINI-friendly.

Is the late finish a result of a busy schedule at the track that day or did they intend to set up a day/dusk/dark race? Have any other KONI races run that way?

. . . not sure but I think it's for the fans. Night racing is always popular. We did an evening run at GP3R and fans were really excited. I think Grand Am is experimenting.

It's going to be difficult for the drivers. There are -ZERO- reference points at that track . . . and that's with the Sun out!
    In the dark . . . it's going to be a B***H. :eek6:

Anyway . . . we will see with the TV coverage. It should be pretty cool.
