insane prices but not as much as I thought this JCW it would bring. I suppose the lack of R53 expertise had a lot stop bidding because they were afraid of CA smog or some other irrelevant factor. On the other hand, about 4 years ago I thought $13k was insane for a low mile JCW like this. Other cars are going up in value in a similar fashion, though. I recall when a nice V8 Audi S4 wagon could have been had for peanuts because they all need engine out timing chain service sooner or later, but now those go for well over 20k as well. There goes that project
here's a 06 JCW convertible with just 23k miles. Loaded, clean, great color, and unmodified. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-mini-cooper-s-jcw-18/ I am guessing 25k, assuming there are less people interested in the ragtop, although I may be wrong. Few come up in this spec and condition.
A 2008 MCS with 32,000 miles. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2008-mini-cooper-s-john-cooper-works-6/
Another very clean unmodified GP2 with 16,000 miles. It’s amazing so many of these are for sale with low mileage. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2013-mini-cooper-s-jcw-gp-23/
A 2011 Mini Cooper JCW convertible with 38,000 miles. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2011-mini-cooper-jcw-5/
I believe it has become bring bags of money. The days of reasonably price project cars are long gone. Sure is a fun place to spend a bit of time day dreaming.
You’re absolutely correct with the bags of money statement but the MINI’s aren’t 150,000 mile shopping cart warriors either. You can still find some nice cars if’n you are willing to put a little tlc into them. It is fun to look at some of the interesting cars that are up for sale.
The GP2 with 16,000 miles is now up to $16,000. Since a 8,000 mile example went for $34,000 recently it would be easy to see this one going for 30k or slightly more if the interest is there.
With just over an hour to go the 38,000 mile 2011 MCS JCW convertible with no reserve is still at $11,000. If bidding doesn’t pick up someone is going to get a very nice R57 for a great price.
With less than twenty four hours to the 23,000 mile 2006 MCS JCW convertible is now at $8,300. This is a nicely optioned car and at the moment doesn’t appear to be getting much love.
With less than twenty four hours to go the 16,000 mile GP2 is at $20,000. Low mileage examples of these cars have been bid to $34k in recent auctions.
New listing is a 2006 GP with 88,000 miles being sold by Geneva Motors. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-mini-gp-42/
With about 75 minutes to go the 06 convertible is at $11,750. Seems like a great car for top down lovers but as yet the bidding isn’t showing that.
