Paddles are for boats, keep the stick.

I prefer to see it as they installed a manual.... instead of a mixer that was missing the paddles ... Even though that's not the case... I'm still allowed to dream that it was...

Don't let them put in the paddles....
Keep the Getrag.... It doesn't need paddles..... -
"the repair will take approximately two days to complete" and "additional time may be required"
Seriously, to install steering wheel paddles? -

The problem could be the coding. Better to give a long estimate & have it take less time than the other way around.
Didn't MINI leave the multi-function wheels off the first R56 MINIs even though folks had spec'd them? -

I thought paddles were for wimps... Ooops, that'd apply to all the modern day F-1 drivers I guess then, huh?

Naw... My buddy's new Countryman has 'em and it's an auto. I knew that... My stance remains unchainged.

I wonder which came first though. Did MINI's computers find the discrepancy before the new owner remembered he ordered paddle shifters or did this happen after he noticed and started complaining? Suppose it could have been a dealer-spec'd car bought off the lot and the owner might not have even known anything was missing relative to the dealer's order sheet. -
What happened was that these are auto-tranny JCW's that are supposed to come with steering wheels with red stitching. However, someone at MINI forgot to make a paddle shifter version of the steering wheel with red stitching.
So they delivered the auto-tranny JCW's with the stick shift JCW steering wheels (red stitching but no paddle shifters). That was really dumb. They should have delivered with the standard black stitched paddle shifter wheels, then it would have been a simple swap when the red stitch version became available. As it is, they have to do the whole paddle shifter retrofit with coding and maybe wiring.
