Hmmm... It's ok if you believe that MINI hasn't sold out, but it's not ok if you believe that they in fact have sold out. I get it now. I'm out, thread was fun and good natured, but that went to the wayside due to noncompliance with doctor prescribed medications. Night all.
Ok we beat the horse to death. But I have to say we did good almost 15 pages and it didn't get out of hand. This is the fun and friendly Mini site.
No, it was you all who took the absolute point of view, I merely pointed out that you were wrong to do so..... There is room in the world for both points of view just as there's room for both types of MINI, you have the right to yours, and I certainly have as much right to mine, right? and Dave O, really? that's all you've got? when presented with facts instead of innuendo, you skulk off into your corner, stick your thumb in your mouth, grab your blankie and sulk? OK
Minidave you think you are more important than you are and you are not worth my time. You really are a boring old man in the middle of nowhere that needs attention. I know you have an ax to grind with me from your PMs so I could careless about your point of view on anything.
I got my nap, but someone didn't get theirs. Can't wait until we all have autonomous cars & don't have to worry about this cars having soul thing. Oh by the way my MINI does not have DSC, I spent that money on something useful & soulful, a LSD. :arf:
My DSC is always off and I have had someone adjust my ABS to make them much less sensitive. No I will not tell anyone who did it and it was not Jan of RMW. I have an LSD also and its great.
Let's agree that not every one is the best driver out there and need the extra help. The fact they still love MINIs, ALL MINIs, wins in my book. We're all free to drive what we want and say what we want, for now. So MINI went too far with the F56. Are we really going to turn away a new MINI fan just because they show up in one?
No we are not. It has been said a few times its about the company not the people that buy the Mini. We will welcome the F56 owners. I have said that and and so has DaveO and a I think some others.
Folks should drive whatever they like. Doesn't matter to me. I like cars & most likely will find some aspect of the F'n56 that pleases me. How are the cupholders?
I'm trying to be done with this thread, but this bothers me: I have said in more than one post that I'd welcome all F56 owners, I just don't like the car, but that's different than the community. Same thing with the R56 owners, I actually had a letter pubished in Roundel a few years back pleading for everyone to keep the R56/R53 debate "fun" rather than toxic. Hopefully what happened in this thread won't happen with the F56, where some people have posted personal opinions on either side with good points, and others have just attacked opinions without offering anything constructive. You know who you are. I have also said repeatedly that I get why someone would want the F56, although some on here have missed that (not necessarily you, others who will go unnamed but now have the nickname "Voldemort"), and are failing to see the other side--the enthusiast side--of the coin. What started out as a lighthearted thread got personal to some, it's happened before, it'll happen again.
I think this should be the new standard welcome... Welcome, thanks for joining Motoring Alliance, the FUN and Friendly MINI Community (even if you drive the most soulless, collagen lipped, nannied MINI to date). Or Welcome, thanks for joining Motoring Alliance, the FUN and Friendly MINI Community (it's not you, but your car that we hate)
On a side note, I do think this has been a fairly polite discussion (even with the juvenile use of Motor On).
The first one is too busy, but the second one, now that's good, good enough to be a grill badge. "Motor On" is sorta kinda in fun, tongue in cheek, if you know the history of it, which you probably do. The alternative is MUCH more juvenile...
On a more serious note, this thread has me thinking the site is significantly less fun and friendly than I previously thought...
Compared to any other auto site it IS fun and friendly. Every community needs a few curmudgeons. Now.....get off of Chucks lawn!
