    Thanks Scott, DETAILS.... :) :)

Interesting the comment about Hawk Pads, I tried a set, they were dismal, I took them off and went to EBC reds (2nd set now), first set burnt up a bit due to my aggressive usage.

    More?

Jeff, What Hawks did you put on?

I currently have the Stop Tech pads on. They are low dust, quite, don't fade, and are the same wet and dry. But they don't have the bite that I want. So next time I upgrade the brakes I'll be trying something else.

Not that I am aware of and it may be because they are so cheap on Tire Rack. It would be hard to beat the price they have and make a profit after you buy enough to keep them in stock.

So the folks who have tried the Akebono like them, they stop well, etc.

The folks who still like EBC Reds still like them but inspect often. :)

It's ok Scott, perhaps I should go back a gen, I have been thinking on style'n a nice 05/06 Cooper into a Rally Car and Lapper. Maybe I will run Cool Carbons. :)

Anyone else have a great brake pad for the R56?

Perhaps I should open another topic, like what is the 2014 sticky tire for the hot season?

I may have the last set of good EBC red pads, they are on the MINI now. I have used and like the Akebono pads on other cars, they maybe in the MINI's future.

Would it be better to use EBC Red pads with EBC rotors vs going with Reds on OEM rotors? I don't know if it's just me but these OEM rotors are not hard metal, they seem soft for a brake rotor. Then again what do I know about rotors, my Datsun had a solid disc up front with no cooling fins like the rear rotors on our Mini's.

It's been a while, but I remember reading about that backing system a while ago. I think it was performance friction if I remember correctly. Seems like a smart move for EBC. Thanks for the heads up Paul.

It will take time until EBC has all the pads using that system. I think I'd wait a while before buying any EBC pads. There must be a way to tell which pads use the system. Different part number?

EBC RED pads separated from the backing plate 3 times on for me (2) different front sets & (1) rear set and I will NEVER use EBC again. My $.02

Dave - don't need to repeat the other thread :D
    - but I'm trying to remember - were all your failures with R53 front calipers/pads? This was before you did the front caliper upgrade - right? Just curious, since I had issues with R53 front brake pads, but have had no issues since going to the larger R56/JCW setup... Much larger contact patch and better heat mgmt...
