Would it be better to use EBC Red pads with EBC rotors vs going with Reds on OEM rotors? I don't know if it's just me but these OEM rotors are not hard metal, they seem soft for a brake rotor. Then again what do I know about rotors, my Datsun had a solid disc up front with no cooling fins like the rear rotors on our Mini's.

No the fastest way is to hit an immovable object. It's just not recommended. It might void your warranty.

Here's the technology Way mentioned, that EBC is using now... Interesting.

It's been a while, but I remember reading about that backing system a while ago. I think it was performance friction if I remember correctly. Seems like a smart move for EBC. Thanks for the heads up Paul.

Looks like the Velcro hook side of the hook and loop...

The only question I have is whether all the MINI-sized Reds use NRS backing plates now. Looking at the EBC website, seems they're phasing it in across many of their pads and sizes. They mention that some of the Reds use it... But don't say specifically which ones.

It will take time until EBC has all the pads using that system. I think I'd wait a while before buying any EBC pads. There must be a way to tell which pads use the system. Different part number?

EBC RED pads separated from the backing plate 3 times on for me (2) different front sets & (1) rear set and I will NEVER use EBC again. My $.02

Dave - don't need to repeat the other thread :D
    - but I'm trying to remember - were all your failures with R53 front calipers/pads? This was before you did the front caliper upgrade - right? Just curious, since I had issues with R53 front brake pads, but have had no issues since going to the larger R56/JCW setup... Much larger contact patch and better heat mgmt...

 ok All my failures were with OEM 2005 calipers 2 front 1 rear.
