Being launched just two and half years ago, the first MINI to ever have 4 doors and a large tailgate with 5 seats proved to be a great model for the British company, selling 102,250 units in 2012 alone.

On March 12, 2013 the 250,000th MINI Countryman rolled of the assembly line in Magna Steyr's factory in Graz, Austria. This incredible number stands as a great statement that the brand's hallmark driving fun and classic style are appreciated in the compact premium segment.

This innovative vehicle was designed from the beginning for a target group that appreciates some extra functionality but, at the same time, want to continue to experience the fun of driving through tight bends. Also the Countryman was the first ever MINI to have an optional all-wheel-drive system, a feature that transported the go-kart feeling into this versatile car.

Out of the various versions of the Countryman the most popular one was the MINI Cooper S Countryman followed closely by the MINI Cooper Countryman. However, the diesel versions were great sellers too, in the countries where they were available, accounting for almost 37% of the Countryman sales in 2012.

Obviously they made the right decision when a lot thought they ruined the brand. My wife loves hers.

    I'm glad Penny is happy.

Yes it was a good move for BMW/MINI. Makes them lots of money. That being said I still think they are moving in the wrong direction. Now we have a giant hatchback next to a small SUV. The SUV makes more sense. The sales figures show that. Here's hoping the next MINI car remains a small car & a good one at that. :fingerscrossed:

We adore our CM all wheel. More so than our Roadster? No. Really glad Mini is producing this more functional vehicle---while still maintaining production of the legendary two-door models.

Since 2007 Porsche has sold more Cayenne's than 911's.

Obviously the market wants these types of vehicles. Why should we besmirch MINI for entering the fray as well. They are, after all, in business to make products people want.

While some may point at a Countryman and laugh it is the high sales volumes of these sorts of vehicles that allow MINI to create gems such as the GP.

My guess is that the 250,000th being a JCW was not by accident lol

My cynical mind was thinking the same thing. An All4 JCW in Black w/ red stripes to boot!
