Nico Bastian managed to flip his MINI Cooper race car while in the air. In a fast corner, the brakes on his MINI failed and he crashed into the side barrier. Fortunately, the driver got out without any injuries. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoBoWEj7dq8"]YouTube - Highspeed Crash MINI CHALLENGE Sachsenring[/ame]
Ouch! Had the priviledge of donating my MINI for the Food Lion AutoFair at Lowes Speedway in Charlotte along with me, were a white, red, and my Blue. Also the MINI Challenge Car all jacked up on its air jacks along with a 1974 original Mini in celebration of the 50th Birthday.
Wow, the way he got out like he'd just parked the thing really makes me appreciate the safety equipment in that car.
The RUSSIAN Judge gives him a 10! However this Canadian Judge deducts marks for not waiving to the crowd:frown2:
i love caged cars. who cares if the door flew open? it is only a decoration. nice result from a hard hit. the driver seemed in full control of his senses as he exited. nice.
Doesnt matter...he was going fast enough in order to flip the car straight up after hitting the guard rail... I like to play it around the 4 sec mark and then continue to hit repeat after he hits the guard rail...then I make schreeching sounds... Reminds me of my days playing with Hot Wheels...Oh wait...that was last night :cornut:
I tried to get a look at the under pan on the car. It flashes by pretty fast, though, so it's difficult to get a really good look.
That's one tough car! I know it has a cage, but does it have rewelded seams and all that, or is the unibody pretty "stock" otherwise? All the evidence I've seen of Minis in accidents over the last 5 years or so suggest they are built to survive big accidents. Did you all see this amazing video to celebrate IIHS's 50th anniversary?
