I just found out about this thread too and have to add my 2 cents or one cent.

I was a passenger in the MINI in front of the one that got hit. There were only 3 of us, not a "congo line" of MINIs - the ones behind us just happened to catch up to us on 28. My friend thought about going in that entrance, and at no point did I think we were in danger of getting hit by the red Sentra if we had made the turn. Not to cast aspersions, but that makes me think she 'could have' been driving fairly fast to not be a danger to the car I was in but then hit the one behind me and never tap the brakes.

I heard the crash, looked in the side view mirror and saw the MINI spinning. We pulled over immediately and saw the driver of said MINI get out of his car as soon as it stopped and go check on the Sentra's driver.

It is a bad location to come over that hill into the sun too. I was glad - and a bit surprised - that everyone was okay. My heart sank when I saw people look into the Sentra and yell "Call an ambulance!" Could not believe it when I saw her and her dog walking around a few minutes later.

I doubt anyone here can swear that they have never come close to being in an accident. I would bet that we have all made a bad judgment call while driving and been lucky. Sometimes we lose that battle of feet or inches that turns it into an actual accident.

At any rate, it kept me off the Dragon for the rest of the trip, and I had had a sway bar installed while we were out and was dying to get back and try it out!!

Just b/c someone shares a interest in a similar automobile as mine, should not make them safe from ridicule. But it is 'ok' for people to go ape-**** about crossed yellow lines in the other thread concerning the actions of MINI drivers while at MOTD ;) .

NEVER did i say i was perfect, nor do i think i portrayed that at anytime. Why do you think i find there to be such an importance in this 'accident' for the people involved, the people there, and then the people who watched the video. My accident record has been clean for the last 8yrs, and i am a youngin, but there is good reason for that. Blame it partially on the fact i am motorcyclist as well, and have lost a few friends to his EXACT incident, one of which wasnt but two months ago. "Careless driving" hits pretty close to home.

I did say at one point, my intentions were not to make the MINI driver feel any worse, then he may already, and that still holds true. In fact, the only 'negative' thing i said directed towards him was he gets no sympathy from me. I never called him any names or belittle him in anyway, so i dont understand where i wronged him ? Knowing he got out and checked on the Sentra driver speaks volumes about him, and for that gets huge amounts of respect from me. Respect, yes, sympathy, no. (FYI, they are very different lol)

You want to see flaming, post this on a motorcycle forum, and see what words they have reserved for the MINI driver. I PROMISE it wont be pretty.

If you are still upset, then get over yourself, simple. Learning isnt always enjoyable, but a wasted opportunity to learn something valuable is just Darwinism waiting to happen...

    P.S.

All I know is that I never want to be that close to that violent of a transfer of automotive kinetic energy again. Scared the poop outta me... I consider myself fortunate that she didn't have time to react... because pretty good odds if she had, it would have meant a head-on collision for me... as I was the next car in line.

Attorneys, don't bother to call me - happened so fast that I didn't witness anything except the aftermath.

This thread has been declared dead how many times now? And yet, folks keep piggybacking onto it. For one simple reason: It ain't LOCKED.

Please, mods, lock it down. The dead horse has been sufficiently beaten. Every possible angle has been approached, dissected, defended, explored, ad nauseum. Give it a friggin' rest, people.
