2002 mini cooper s. Im new to this site but am hoping someone might be able to help me on here.
my mini will only unlock with my fob but will not lock with it. also i can unlock the doors with the interior switch but again can not lock, also when i lock the drivers door with my key it does not lock the passenger door with it or the boot n petrol cap
Im at my wits end trying to think what could be coursing this, if anyone could help me i would really appropriate it

Sounds like it could be a programming issue.

Being it is a 2013 MINI I'd be calling the dealer about this.

its the 2002 mini mate not 2013 ive tried the different sequences to reprogram key but never work, so guessing its because the earlier model mini keys cant be done this way?

This may not work but have you tried disconnecting the battery for at least 10 min. This may help reset the system if you have any gremlins in the system.

It could be a coding issue that needs to be addressed at a dealership with the service departments computer with the BMW/MINI diagnostic software.

The other option would be to find a MINI aftermarket shop that has the tool and can do "coding" for you 1st Gen and pray its not bad the BCM.

    Good luck on your repair.

Yes. In the boot on the same side as the fuel cap, remove the trim panel. Behind it will be a small lever pull it to the rear to unlock the fuel cap.

I'm guessing you might need a dealer reprogram..hopefully that is it.
On most gen1 cars, the antenna/receiver for the keyless entry is in the rearview mirror....
Early 2002 cars are kinda different than the 2003+ cars...many changes were made...so when you do a search... The info you find might not be applicable....

cheers for your post dude. ive just took my rear view mirror apart n no sign of a antenna in there so guessin not the case with my mini, although have had bit of water getting into mirror from top of window so thought that could have been to blame. now back to square 1 aint got a clue :(
