Geeze, I thought U-Haul was everywhere! I know they have tow trailers.

Perhaps some M/A member has one you could use.:fingerscrossed:

No U haul here in CR and I'm the only M/A member in CR for sure! I'm still plugging at the cargo guys. There must be one that wants to have decals on the Mini.

Red Bull were very nice in giving the WRC media contact but politely said they had bigger fish to support in Motorsport! Wrote to Eboost energy drink but they only focus on the US market. I do have a cargo company looking into discounted shipping costs and another company trying to get a realistic customs cost. There has been zero interest for the gofundme site. I see a lot of shares but no donations. The aim is the have the Mini ready by November and then see where we are with the funds. Even selling the motor bike would not get me close to the total LOL.

Tomorrow is the NACAM rally in CR and there are some teams from Mexico so I hope I can get a better idea of the shipping from the teams.

Seeing is time is running out due companies are now fixing their budgets for 2017 I'm now researching and emailing 2 companies a day during lunch. I've even emailed gas monkey garage! The frustrating part is barely anyone replies. Just Red Bull were so polite. The gofundme has had 60+ shares but nothing donated......never give up!

OK chaps! time to pump up the volume! I've tried the no publicity, quiet method but now with time running out I need the help of the rally media to get the message out there. Stay tuned.

I have a new plan! I'm getting Mini vendors to supply stuff that I can raffle off to folks who donate to gofundme or my paypal account. The link will work now, I did not know the campaign goes inactive if I don't do a monthly update. https://www.gofundme.com/mini-2-mexico2017 sorry about that. I'll let you know what stuff is available soon.

Seeing as the gofundme account has not generated much in the way of funds I have been in contact with EBC brakes who will supply a set of disc's/Pads (red or yellow stuff) to fit a Gen 1/ Gen 2 Mini free of charge to anyone who donates $12 or more to the gofundme link or paypal me at [email protected] I'm working on getting more vendors to supply Mini parts for donations. All people that donate will be entered into a raffle at the end of the year.

It's been a tough month trying to prepare the Mini and find the backing. I don't get it with some companies, they string me along and then after about 3 months say they don't have the budget, then come back again to say they might have the budget! What can I do but just go with the flow.

Eminiparts.com have helped with these items to help towards gaining funds via a raffle at the end of the year. To be fair I need at least 100 donations at $5

Wow 6 months has passed by yet it seems like a life time! I'm still emailing companies, rock bands, DJ's, disco's and any other business I can think of. I have 2 maybe's from the airlines and one maybe for a car fixing shop. I have some stuff to raffle off but as yet can't get the funds in. Not that I like going begging , hence the stuff to raffle off. The project has been the most frustrating thing I've done in years, somewhat like climbing a greasy pole. LOL I thought the Mini would be done by now but still the stupid clutch bites back. Then to top it off the bloody "MA go to work bike" clutch let go too! Seeing as all funds are going to the Mini I got help from EBC brakes to supply the parts for the bike. Therefore this will be my job on Friday.

In rallying there is a 5 year rule for belts and seats so, you guessed it! both expired this year. Getting new ones in CR is robbery so after some wheeling and dealing I was able to sell the old belts and seats to pretty much cover the new ones! only issue is I have to carry the seats on the plane as checked bags! hahaha

So guys what am I missing in my gofundme campaign? I have stuff to raffle, I'm not asking for much so I figure apart from the folks who have donated so far that no body gives a ***** I get that. I got one comment saying." if you can't afford to race ,then don't race" which is true but since 1989 I never afforded to race. I just found ways to do it on the cheap, got creative , learned to paint cars(made money from that), learned to sign write my own decals, learned build engines, gearboxes(making money from that), suspension building, fabrication, improve my bird ***** welding, wiring(still learning), cut cars up for spares and sold them, got bicycles from the land fill , rebuilt them and sold them on and the list goes on. I look over the past 27 years and think WOW! I've learned a lot to make my racing happen and inspired others to follow the same path which is a nice feeling. With all this in the past the rally Mexico project is the greatest challenge, but if this challenge was easy would the sense of achievement be so rewarding? I'm going to continue working hard to make this happen and come the day it does not happen I can say I gave this project my best. Never give up!

no worries MCS02 I think I'm the stupid one for not explaining the process clearly! The original idea was to offer this stuff to folks who donated $12 then that went down to $10 to gofundme or paypal'ed me but as pointed out by a few folks elsewhere that this plan is not going to work if 2 folks donated! good for them but not for the funds. So I was told to set a minimum of donations ( like 100) so I at least reach a total. Seeing that is all new to me I think I didn't clearly state this. Tricky stuff to manage with folks I have never met personally because if this does not happen I want to return the money(because I won't sleep at night) which is also tricky depending on the amount raised as gofundme take 8%. I feel like a juggler here. I mean Eminiparts are helping me as are EBC brakes but I need to at least see some return for them for the stuff they donated. Anyway I need at least 100 folks at $10 to do the raffle. That'll be $1000 plus the $400 I have now.

I'm working on the shipping costs and as the time gets closer to the deadline to pay and ship I hope a rabbit will be pulled out the hat. Also I'm going to look more stupid if I have the funds and the Mini is not finished.

One thing I can say if this all goes down it will be an epic thread done with my special blend of humour . Maybe a film and book later! Taco Mini?
