They are already checking the route for Mexico 2017! I'm going to do a raffle soon for the stuff from Eminiparts but I need to figure out a ticket price that 1/ folks will pay 2/ I get at least $500 towards the costs.

I did the raffle in Mini stuff. I have 6 prizes and will try to get more to make it worth the while for folks. I'm still plugging away at the support side of things. Pretty much the final cut off is going to be mid January so the clock is ticking. I'm confident I'll have the Mini sorted by then. I got a bit of a bonus this year, so am I going to pay off some bills? nope, going to buy stuff to make the Mini FIA compliant. Actually the bonus was a much needed because I was thinking how was I going to pay for the roll cage certificate and FIA hand held fire extinguisher. never give up!

I got word from WRC.com that now the rally season is over for 2016 they will focus on a feature for my quest to be at Mexico......wooooo hooooooooo

well the news was short lived! WRC.com can only report on WRC entered cars.....I'm not sure if we will be WRC3 or NACAM...... so I'm trying to find out.

hooo hum, The Mini would be a national Homologation therefore we would have to run NACAM which runs behind WRC and is a shorter route. With very little funds coming in and still more money to spend I think the chances of going to Mexico are looking a bit bleak.

Thanks, yes I'm hanging on until the last moment! The final cut off date is January but I have another slight issue......the roll cage! The guy came to take the spec info to send to the FIA but to do that he needs the invoice for the tubing which I purchased in 2012....can I find it, nope.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh I sigh. I just found out there is another team from Columbia who bought a rally car in CR who has the same goals as our team. Hopefully we can work together to get to Mexico! This is the best chance I've had so far....never give up as tomorrow is another day.

Thanks, the other issue is getting the roll cage certified. I figure everything will happen all at once in true rally fashion.

Well this has been an epic experience so far, there has been a lot of behind the scenes stuff that is too boring to post about. About from the Christmas break I've been on this project constantly since last March. I didn't generate the funds I needed but it has been a learning curve. The plus is I made a lot of contacts in Mexico and the WRC so even if we don't compete we are welcome to go watch. Also the Mini should be in better shape than it was and I still have some hope we will go to Mexico with the Mini. When I think back to the FIA Middle East championship and how I took an old MG Maestro there and finished rallies surely I can do it with the Mini.
I'm still waiting for the shipping quote but timing is going to be the issue. I leave here on Jan 21 and return Feb 5th.......let's see -

Thanks...Now I'm playing the waiting game. I've emailed around 70 companies with some still thinking about it. I've emailed a few more this week. So I'm waiting for the shipping quote, the cage certificate, the schedule, sponsors etc. I figure if nothing happens by the 2nd week in Feb the project is over. No fat lady in sight just yet.

Chris I honestly thought we could get enough help for you from the MINI owners on this forum & the MINI community at large. Don't know why that hasn't happened yet. To the folks who have helped good on you for that. For those who are sitting on the fence it is now time to help out a privateer who wants to take his rally MINI & do great things with it. If everyone helped a little it would be enough to reach the goal > Press on regardless to Rally Mexico.
