Off back down to CR, this will be the make or break visit due to the limited time to ship the Mini to Mexico. I've literally missed the boat for a container so I'm looking at roll on roll off shipping but that means I have to drive the Mini to the event, compete and drive back with just 5 tyres and no spares.......I did the Powerball lottery ticket too!

Thanks I think I need more than luck! The FIA guy emailed me to say he needed a bunch of info, info I emailed him the first week of January! also he is asking me for the location of the certification plate???????????????? OMG that's why I'm paying $400 to get that! I'm having a Trump day! The good news is the fire extinguisher should be here on Monday. I hope the cage will be sorted soon.......Mexico is looking like Jack at the end of the Titanic movie...slowly drifting away.

On a more positive note, the Mini is driving great, still crunching gears but I need to swap the oil.

I'd think Panama would have a "Crisscross the Canal" rally...what about countries to the South? :confused5: Surely Mejico isn't the only party...:nonod:

ah we're on the same page ! I was looking elsewhere in Latin America. WRC Argentina? I still need the cage cert. Can you believe the FIA guy gave me another email because he said the one he gave me he does not check!!!!! words fail me!

Regarding the NACAM championship, they never got back to me, the guy with the STI says there are just 3 cars competing........I wonder why? Look at this..NACAM is open to any teams in the America's with an FIA approved car. In the USA there are zero cars with FIA approval. Costa Rica 1 and hopefully a Mini soon. Mexico about 8 and Peru a few more. the Championship takes you all over Latin America and Canada? What sponsor is going to support a Championship with no teams of publicity? Ok that's my rant for Friday..hahaha

Argentina would be cool... they sure are making it hard for people to compete... crazy.

hahaha just a 2 month drive! I have to say the folks at rally Argentina are exceptional with email replies and information( see below) way better than the folks in Mexico. Anyway we would run as a guest in the regional championship which would favour us for our limited budget and tyres. Also the entry fee is $500! Now I've emailed the shipping company to see the shipping cost and time frame. I'm bugging the FIA guy for the cage cert!

    Category
Normally you should enter in WRC.

The national category is opened to Argentine drivers, so in order to run this category you would need to decline your national licence and take an Argentine one. Another option to do this would be to run as a guest in the Argentine championship without scoring any points.

The national category runs half the itinerary, completing only the first pass over the stages.

If your concern is to run this reduced route, you can always retire and apply rally 2 regulations in WRC2.

    Import

It is possible to import cars and parts temporarily in Argentina. I recomend you to contact the custom agent Waiver Logistics in order to know the exact procedures and costs:

    Silvana Ianni
    Waiver Logística Argentina S.A.
Manuela Saenz Nº 323, 6th floor, office 617/618
    Buenos Aires, Argentina
    0810-345- WAIVER (9248)
    Tel.:+54 (11) 5273-9700
    Cel.: +54 (9 11) 2461-5395
    Nextel: 54*243*715
    [email protected]

    Entry fees
With the optional advertising proposed by the organisers (to be published in a bulletin):

Argentinean Competitors $ 7,200 (Argentine pesos)
Competitors from the American Continent € 2,500
    Others € 3,000

Looking forward to keep in touch.

I'm still impressed with these folks in Argentina, even though I'm a Minion in the rally world they still give me all the information to compete as if I was a WRC hero. This year the WRC event is a part of their national championship so they expect 40 entries! I'm told 6 to 7 cars will be in my class. The shipping company will send a quote soon for a door to door service which would be a lot less stress. We'd load the Mini at the port in CR, unload at service, keep the container there and then load up ready for the shipping back to CR. Fingers crossed it won't be a stratosphere cost.

not really..haha they were going to quote airfreight too! The nice thing is some locals are offering their homes to save on the hotel expense. Maybe they want to kidnap a British ?
