Trying to figure out what MINI has what engine is a daunting task. Is there a matrix, or can someone develop a matrix that shows the model number (R53, R56, R58, etc), the corresponding model year, and the engine model (i.e. N14, N18, etc.)? The engine mfg. (Prince, Peugeot, etc.) would be nice as well. Maybe this already exists....I'm just not aware of it. This would be great information in the Library.
Pretty cool! I'm wondering if the factory built 2nd gen JCWs have a different engine designation? I thought there was a fair amount of internal differences in those engines to help longevity & make ponies.
Great.....when did that go into the library? I looked for it the other day and didn't see it. Another question that has come up, does the 2012 JCW have the N18 or the N14 engine. I've been told the N14 but the dealer and the library piece says the N18.
The N18 has a valve cover that looks different than the one on the N14. The one in Dark Helmet looks like an N14 cover to me. I'm also confused about that. :confused5:
Exactly....that's got me confused as well. We need help from those that work with this stuff everyday. If we can compile the information I am happy to create a chart that organizes the facts. This is tougher than someone trying to understand the english language (I before E, except after C)
With the lower volume fJCW option MINI has stayed with the N14 and never jumped to the N18.... That is until just recently when they offered variable lift on all 16 #10 penny nails.... Not sure what designation they went with the recent change.....
