Car Magazine has a detailed article on the upcoming refresh of the entire MINI line. Full Article Some of the highlights... I find the F58 and F59 interesting. These 2 variants really move away from the current MINI core. I don't think there was ever a 4 door in the classic lineup. At least not directly from Mini but possibly from one of the various variants available back in the day such as Riley. The F58 never had a direct descendant in the line I think. It was not till 86 when Chrysler introduced the Minivan that as a market that segment really took off. There were earlier versions, The VW van comes to mind, but Chrysler really put the segment on the map. MINI just cashing in on the concept? Only time will tell how these new MINIs are received by the market. I have high hopes, but then again, I am biased. I also plan on keeping my R53 till it melts back into the earth.
ME TOO! Never letting go of my R53---- I figured over time this would happen and this plan bears that out-BMW is becoming the chevy of european brands-we need a car for every niche, and we don't care if they are bland or not.......
So, do you think they will still make something that still looks like the current hatch, or will it go away? If it goes away, then I guess, so do I at that point. Of course at 65, how many more cars am I going to need? Jim
As long as they have the car that I want to drive I could care less what else they build. If I were a Porsche 911 owner I wouldn't get upset over the four door or the SUV either. Just give me what I want!
Many of the Porsche faithful did get upset with the 4 door and the SUV. However, it is the SUV and 4 door that bring in the majority of the profits that allow Porsche to keep building better 911's.
+1 +1 +1 +1 MINI will be just another bland looking BMW :frown5: Yes BMW makes some good mechanically running cars....but....except for the Z4.... I can't tell one from another. Sorry all you BMW owners out there :biggrin5:
Me too. And when that happens, I will look for another R52 (In my case) or R53 to replace the Buick Park Avenue. Someone will always have one for sale with low mileage. So, I have two cars - a 208 inch long Buick and 142 Inch long Mini - the two extremes. Guess which one I drove to Indiana and back last summer - through the Rockies etc.? --Russ
:cornut: Amen Brother.Me and Mini Margi(08 R56 MCS/JCWm BRG)till death do us part.(of course I'm only a mere child of 59) When the big parts get worn out well, I know where k-huevo lives and I'm saving my penny's.(new comers, see his posts under;'Today's Job') Jason
Evolution.... BMW becoming the Chevrolet of the EU, folks that is Fiat. I'm hoping to fit a new Roadster into the home lineup, but the more I see of the future F series, not sure, only when I see the actual will it count. So if I go with the R59, it might be the last new MINI for us. :incazzato: For now, the 07 MCS and the 11 CM will have to do. If the CM does not work out then I will see what might be the next MINI or not. :confused5: Don
Don't really know how I feel about this ^^ I guess maybe I will stick to possibly getting a Mini Coupe and making the R53 a bigger project
:cornut: Metalman..........Any idea what the clubman might look like? I guess that if, in my imagination, I square off the rear of the above vehicle........... Jason
It took me 5 years to get my R53.... I'm keeping it for a very looooooong time. After that? Who knows what brand of car will capture my love :ihih:
I'll drive mine as long as I can & then figure out what the next funster is going to be. I have been looking around & have a few candidates lined up. Hope everybody's MINI keeps going a longggg time.
I'm keeping my MINI 'forever' as well, unless some engine disaster occurs and BMW/MINI won't do anything reasonable to address the situation with me.
When mine splodes, I'm going with this conversion..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O87LUZWyV34]Mini Cooper With Helicopter Turbine Jet Engine Smokes.mov - YouTube[/ame]
