My wife just received a package from MINI with some neat stuff in it, thanking her for buying her CM. I did not realize they were still doing that. Aside from the normal pen and note book there was a little, rubber MINI. Pull the bonnet off and it is a thumb drive. The package it came in turned inside out and made a back pack of sorts. Along this line I have noticed that our local dealer no longer uses the "launch bay", so to speak. When I got Foggie she was backed in and I was given a complete instructional lecture from my MA, then I drove her out. My wife got a quick version in the parking lot. They have the "bay" at the new building, but don't use it anymore. Are they anyplace else? I thought it was cool. Jim
When I bought Ryu my sales rep knew NOTHING about the Gen 1s.... I told him I had it covered That's cool they still send the "Field Kit", or at least that's what it was called when I got one from my '09.
They did something similar when I picked up my MCS earlier this year. They have a small final make-ready spot at the STL dealer; my MA spent quite a bit of time with us as we prepared to shove off. He didn't show me too much, but was willing to, however since I'd visited *four* times since ordering, he was aware that I was pretty warmed-up on most things! I'm thinking they'll have more of a delivery spot at their new building, a la Saturn etc. more dedicated to send-offs. Even now, though, you could tell that "orientation" is supposed to be part of their routine.
I received a Gift Pack as well. Neat! I've read both The MINI International rag and 101 fundamentals of Good Motoring Handbook.

You are right Jim. All the magazines around our house have horses or chickens on the cover. BTW: Progressive Farmer is interesting. Jim
I prefer Urban Farming, Small Farm, and The New Pioneer...Some day I'll be living off grid with a small farm...Does that make me a weirdo? lol...
Prestige in North Jersey still does it. They even take pictures of new owners and their cars and put it on the dealership Facebook page. It depends on the dealer and the amount of fun they have I've been into one that I couldn't wait to get out of because the atmosphere was so high browed...
Good to know.... My car was originally ordered and delivered through Prestige. I go by that dealership when I travel up to do press checks for work. I'm gonna stop in next time!
