Back in August there were rumors going around about MINI using the Crossman in WRC. See Rumormill: Mini could be headed for WRC by adapting new crossover model — Autoblog

When BMW dropped out of F1
I heard some rumors, as BMW is freeing up a ton of cash, but since then it's gone silent.
They'd have to do some serious, serious engineering to get anywhere close to competitive.

With my new flat screen TV, I am finally able to get the HD channels that are available with my cable service. I've discovered that we have the HD Theater channel which is showing the WRC series every week. Last night I watched the first episode I had DVR'ed - Norway on the ice and snow. I am looking forward to watching more. Very cool racing.

I may just be ignorant, but there are no FF rallies anymore? Not even an FF class?

I thought so, but I thought everyone knew that there are several FF classes. They include the Super 1600 class, lots of rule changes for next years WRC cars have come from this class. There is also the Group R, N, and A cars that qualify.

I was just ill informed about what is out there.

I love watching WRC. It would be great to see some MINIs, but as Dr. O says, they would need major changes to be competitive. -

They're dropping out of F1 at the end of this season (their last race is this weekend); should free up plenty of cash for such a program.....
