What does this whole "responsibility" thing have to do with anything? If thats how the world worked we would all drive Prius's, Leaf's, and other hybrid/electro econo crap!
I vote option 4. Send the GP to me on the west coast where I will drive it all year round for you . I'll take good care of it, doing what they're built to do (motoring) for you until you figure out what to do with your other two cars. ostcount
This. So much this. I'd rather slide into my grave sideways, poor, and with a big grin still plastered on my face, than be gently lowered into the ground, with piles of cash remaining and a Prius-induced smug smirk on my face. Silly soul-sucking appliancemobiles.
Crunching numbers now, started running some insurance quotes. I'll have to call my agent tomorrow and put together a hypothetical situation (address change + addition of vehicles & fiancee to policy), but I still need to see the Clubman in person. With some luck, it should be traded in either this Saturday or next week sometime. As long as the car is 100% intact and not in need of any major maintenance, I'm leaning more and more towards making her old R56 my daily driver/dog hauler/bike hauler, and using the GP as a fair weather racecar/occasional commuter.
If you can afford it go for 3. Don't become "car poor". But it sounds like your young enough to be "responsible" a little farther down the road. Besides in ~2 years the gov may eliminate your college loans to buy votes.
Eh, not really car poor - having the third car would eliminate a lot of headaches and be worth it down the road. Besides, the option to sell is always there, too. That being said, I'd be surprised to see the government collectively decide on anything that resembles a college loan elimination bill, anyway. I'd much rather see the paychecks of legislators cut before my college debt gets eliminated (even then, my college debt is rather insignificant compared to most).
