Quick fix...
Offer a free OEM tune on any new sale that unleashes another 100 HP from that engine...
That will make it more competitive in the marketplace...

No Way!
Sales can't be down again this month. they are running out of excuses because the new cars look so great and drive just like a little BMW's. I wonder what's wrong?
Hummm maybe it's just ugly and soulless like a Ginger. -
Crappy marketing in the US ...not going to say anything about looks or performance...
The marketing does not resonate with buyers....
Rather than trying to sell the MINI as a great small car that GOES, they are trying to sell it as a way to become a hipster, and say "I'm premium" to everybody watching you...to somehow justify driving a MINI...
To drive a MINI (imo) means you don't give a rat's azz about what other folks think....you want a different car...
They want to be all things to all people....that is not the US market..... -

I have very mixed feelings about the current MINIs. Visually, I have issues. But, I've driven some of the new ones, and me likey the new engines.
The fact that OPEC is flooding the market with cheap oil probably doesn't help. Why do we treat Saudi Arabia as an ally? Sorry, that should go in the politics section.
BMW survived Chris Bangle, I think they can survive these MINI miss-steps -- if they listen to the MINI enthusiasts and get back to MINI basics.

The current crop of MINI designers looked at these two pictures...
Picture #1
Picture #2
And from this they made their decision where MINI's future lay...
These guys decided...

I agree, MINI's marketing SUCKS! As does their insistence that all the dealerships be quasi-colocated with a Beemer dealership. That in of itself is one of the biggest downfalls to a prospective new MINI owner who might not live near enough to the closest dealer to be reasonable or practical.

dealers must have a stand alone facility? And now
they are saying the opposite? No wonder they are
in trouble. -

Our local MINI dealership outgrew the BMW dealership so they moved MINI about 30 min away which is closer to me.
I buy parts from my local MINI parts guy at a nice discountand they are only 10 minutes away now.
