The classic Mini guys want the new cars at the event. That's why they asked me to get involved. A number of them have new MINIs also. The community of Mini/MINI at least in Ohio is not like the air cooled vs water cooled VW folks or the Porsche (nothing but a 911) people. Come and enjoy the fun, show the classic folks that the new MINI people have just as strong a following and can enjoy each others cars. As for my comment on why there isn't online registration I'm just stating what I was told. Mostly it's "because it's always been done like that". Jeff I don't know who you're trying to avoid. If it a black coupe, I wouldn't worry about it. No one has heard from him in a while.
I have supported MME when I have been able to attend ever since buying my Gen 1 '03 R50 in early '04. Prior to that, my only other Mini experience was with my first car, a 1959 Morris Mini Minor that had to be sold so I could go to college [yep, it was THAT expensive to keep running]. I always planned to get another, but never dreamed it would take nearly 50 years, and then, not even buying a true English one. So, here I am, a "new" MINI owner, three times over and DAMNED proud of it! As for attending this year's MME, I am filling out my registration form. I have a few questions to ask about the pricing, so I guess I'll be communicating with the Virginia crowd.
So much drama in Ohio, what happened? Are you now importing public water from Michigan? See you at the Dragon.
Since it has a Frenchie engine...... Shouldn't it be called "Le Noir Coupé" or maybe "Le Coupé Noir"......
Hi, If anyone has any questions then please email [email protected] I hope to see a ton of the newer style and the older style minis at mini meet. Everyone is welcome and I mean that, so please show up. If you just want to show up and look at the cars and not register then you are more then welcome. I would love to see everyone there. On the pricing questions as of right now COMO looks to loose a ton of money. Do To high cost and lack of registered people. Our goal is to just break even and keep the tradition of Mini Meet going. As of today there are very few registered newer style minis. So please bring your car and your club and Join in on the fun. We are trying our best to make everyone happy and make sure there is something for everyone.
Thanks for all your work & also the other's in the organizing committee. Glad you chimed in here Jason.
My vacation/work plans changed so now I'm going to help from the BMC side on the autocross. Sounds like I might have some free time during the event, so I'll probably bring my camera and snap some photos.
Do you know Paul and Sue Strieby? I think they have something to do with the autocross, too. They are in the Dayton OMO club.
I do know Paul and Sue. I haven't seen them in a couple of years though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They will be happy to see you. Paul used to autocross a lot, until I kidnapped him to the track.
Paul & Sue are helping with the funkana and the car show. Not sure if they will be at the autocross or not. Dr. Tom, Ron, and I are in charge of the autocross with BMC running the show for us. We picked the BMC because they put on the best autocross in town. The MME autocross will be the only time you can see how your car runs with like minis. It's always hard to tell how good your car is running when you are going against other Car manufactures.
Jason, you guys should come out to Circleville this weekend. It's our first points event so we will be utilizing some of the registration, tech, and grid changes that we came up with over previous seasons. Would be a good way to get a feel for how things could be done on the 29th. Hopefully this time there won't be any Miatas that try to do their best Dukes of Hazzard impersonation by trying to jump into the dirt circle track:eek6:
I would if I could but this weekend is pretty busy for me. I will be joining the BMC autocross sometime this year. I have run with the BMC before. I also need to see how the car feels before I signup for the exhibition class for putt in bay vintage races this year.
I will be driving up Friday for the car show. I have obligations for the rest of the weekend so most of the registration fee would be wasted. If anyone would like to grab a bite to eat after the show as it ends at 2:30, let me know and we can make it happen. Rather than spend $85.00 to register, which is a fair price considering all the activities for the weekend, I would rather buy the first round at dinner. Anyone interested???????
