Are you sure you did it? It could already have been there. The R56 are known for melting the scoop due to the close location to the turbo. I think you might be able to get it replaced under warranty. Maybe some R56 owners who are more in the know will chime in.

I read where somebody took their scoop off (although I don't know if that's req'd) and used a heat gun to warm it and then they reshaped it. Maybe start with a hair drier.

I zoomed in on a photo I took this morning and can see that the warped section was there in the am, hours before I touched it. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow about a warranty fix.

Cool. You might want to look into some of the after market options to protect this from happening again once you get it fixed. Not sure what's available out there, but if you contact some of the vendors on this site they will be of some help.

Thunderball Kaboom....
Are your pic's available for posting? I've noticed mine dips down at the center along the back edge about 3/16", but is level with the hood surface all around the rest of the plastic hood scoop. I read where the dealer has been replacing the scoop while under warranty, if the owner complains. But the fix is to use the same part, so no long term improvement. I'm thinking I read somewhere where MINI was thinking about going to a metal or metal plastic composite as part of the upgrade. Let us know what your dealer does for you.
Found it......

Thanks for the pic.
Great timing.....
Mine is dipping in the same place. Maybe not as bad. Dealer is changing the oil this Saturday under the free oil change program, so I'll bring it up with them then. -

I went to the dealer yesterday morning, and they agreed to replace the scoop without hesitation. They ordered the part and washed the car for me as well. Great service from MINI North Scottsdale! The scoop should be ready for install next week.

Sounds like stereo........
I also just got back from the dealer after the freeeeeee scheduled oil change and freeeeee oil filter.
Also mentioned the distorted scoop as well. Absolutely no issues from them. They have ordered the new scoop. They said I'll get a notice in the mail, which will indicate the part is in, but it will still need to be painted, so I should add a couple of extra days for the paint shop and I would get a call for the install.
Now here's the thing. I asked about the replacement scoop and if it's the new and improved part, as I don't want to go through this again. I was told the new part is being used in production, but may or may not have flushed the inventory out of the system:crazy:. They are going to check part numbers to make sure I get the redesign. If not, I'm happy to wait and deal with this at a later date.
The dealer was a joy to work with, a wonderful experience. -

I missed Sam, did speak to Amber. Very nice person, and I mentioned you. She had this look on her face, like a deer staring at headlights. So what was that all about????

Hey Thunderball Kaboom.....
I did some P/N comparison for the "Melted Scoop"
The current Real OEM lists it as 51132757694 for the new part (improved???)
The current Penske Parts lists it as 51132757694 for the new part. And they note this supersedes part 51132756095 (defective part???).
Might be a couple of numbers to carry around in your wallet for comparison when you get the call for the replacement. I plan on doing this as a double check -
