    Hey..... TK
When I was in at the dealer yesterday picking up some of those plastic rivets that I broke changing my bumper. I asked about my hood scoop. Well, it turns out they just got it back from the painters. I checked the P/N, and it is the new and improved. Talked with the S/A, to see if I could help out and just install it for them. No go on that, they have to do it. Oh well just trying to speed things up. I'm scheduled for the work next Saturday.
One interesting comment the S/A made though. He said that they also add more insulation, so the problem won't re-occur.

My scoop was installed on Wednesday morning. From start to finish it took less than 30 minutes, and the paint match is spot on. Justin at MINI North Scottsdale took great care of me, and answered a bunch of questions as well.

    Amber helped me out.
They must be doing quite a few of them. The parts guy first brought out a black scoop when I asked about mine. The thing is, mine wasn't that bad, but there was no argument from their side.
I got an e- survey a few days after the oil change. I gave them all 10's. :D

Can you post what that new and improved (as opposed to old and crummy) part number is

I'm a bit confused which is the true 'new' P/N

Nice. My scoop has a tiny warp, barely noticable. I have 1.5 years left in my warranty. I think I'll wait til nearing expiration before getting it replaced.

Was thinking of doing the same thing until I started to think of paint fade. I decided to go with mine now so as not to have a bigger contrast.

Ahhhh.... red is one of those colors that changes quicker with sun exposure.

However.... being north of the 49th, maybe you just need to worry about the sides of your MINI. BUWHAHAAHAH:devil:

Had my appointment this morning with MAG (Midwestern Auto Group). Amber greeted me out in the entryway when I pulled up. She was right on top of it, she knew why I was there even without asking who I was (I only just met her 2-3 weeks ago). Took all of 30 minutes to get the new scoop installed. The Dark Silver paint was a perfect match to the hood. They even washed my MINI and vacuumed the interior and washed my floor mats. WOW..... what service. These people sure know how to make a customer feel special.:D

MM, I've dealt with. MAG for 15+ years, first with BMW and now with MINI. I think they're great.

At 10,000 miles had the original scoop replaced due to melting. Installed a M7 turbo heat shield in the parking lot next to the dealer to protect the CF one the dealer had installed. At me destination I removed the scoop pulled the semi open scoop insert out, put the scoop on with out it, realized I did not like the look so I dremeled out all the openings and put it all back together. Now with almost 40,000 miles still looks great and functions extremely well.

    OK.......
Here is the latest info on the melting / sagging R56S Hood Scoop.

The current, latest fix is a new re-designed hood scoop and extra aluminum insulation that attaches to the same screws holding the old insulation in place. If you have this issue, make sure you have the following P/N ordered from MINI. If your car is still under warranty there is no charge for this fix.

    Hood Scoop: 51-13-2-757-694 (primered)
    Aluminum Insulation: 51-48-2-183-986

MM, got my new hood scoop and the new metal insulation piece installed by MAG that MINI is now adding to those that they replace. Interesting.....Way's new heat shield looks exactly like the shield they installed on my MINI except it doesn't have "Way Motor Works" stamped in it. How about yours?

    Probably just a coincidence.

Just a wild guess on my part. It's probably a MINI oem part with "Way Motor Works" as a water mark on the Way photo. I will say this in Way's defense... Amber @ MAG was going to charge me for it until she realized it was a warranty claim. The price Amber emailed me was $36.27 for the part versus $26.00 quoted by Way.

Yes it is the MINI heatshield, the Way Motor Works is our watermark so when someone steels the picture from our website they are stuck with our name on it. ha ha, cause it happens all the time.
Glad we were cheaper than the dealer, we can usually beat most dealers prices on OEM parts, just don't always have them on the site.

Classic MINI in Mentor Ohio has a very nice NAM discount 440.205.6404. Remember to say NAM & not sewing site. :D I've bought a few things from them & they gave me very good service. Two opposable thumbs up! Just another option, not affiliated, your mileage may vary, yada yada yada...
