It just seems to me "one person" crys EVERYTIME something does not go his way and a thread gets closed.

Some people need to get thicker skin or stay off the Internet.

    Dave....
With all your carbon buildup.... I would have voted for you....:D

I would have considered it a non-factory mod....

What a shame, I was looking forward to March.

Coming from a college student, I have yet again learned that age does not directly correlate to one's maturity level.

Hope to see this started again in the future.

Whole thing is ridiculous, Mini of the Month was meant for fun and never as a measure of one's manhood... Think it is crazy that folks here can't have a friendly little monthly contest without someone getting butt hurt over it..:screwy:

Hats off to Nathan for trying to do it in the first place, it was a nice distraction from the really important things in life for a little while...

Hey Nathan, how about allowing voting on which is your favorite MINI/mini but not allowing for additional posting. A voting poll only. The one with the most votes wins. No words just pictures.

It was supposed to be all fun and games. What the heck happened.. The month I won we all had a good time talking alittle trash here and there, posting some pics along the way, even had some people posting pics of cars in the running and not a single person complained about it..Sure we all have our ideas on what type of MINI we will and or would voted for, but by no means did anyone put down someones car for having said mod or for not having said mod on their car.. Who cares if you like stripes, cats, dogs or checkers on your car, same as if you like nothing on it at all but how you drove it off the lot.. No one can sit here an say I should win because my car is this or that!!! That is why we VOTE!!
We all see MINIs we like or don't like for various reasons, and as your mom told you or should have told you, if you don't have anything good to say shut the bleep up... It's just a game on a forum for crying out loud..
I didn't mention anyones name here but if you think I was directing this at you, well I probably was!!

First off I want to THANK ALL that had voted this month for the MINI's that the owner enjoy SO much. It is a shame that a few can ruin it for the others. This is a another way Nathan has given us to show case our cars. GREAT JOB to MOTORING ALLIANCE.

I just have ONE question. If this is a good idea now, how come it wasn't when I suggested it, way back last December?:lol:

Got to be careful with what you say, you don't know who's sitting on the other side of the computer screen.

So if MOTM is over (for now) does Blue Brit get to stay on the home page forever?:biggrin5:

I really didn't know there were prizes until 2 weeks ago.

Kill the prizes. It should just be for the little badge under your name.(bragging rights)
Or at most maybe a little MA MOTM sticker for your car.

A few good ideas came out of this thread.

First of all, monthly is too much. At most, quarterly, or biannually. There simply aren't enough cars for a monthly deal, it dilutes it too much. After a few months, it's meh. Fewer winners, it comes a bigger deal. It'll help you with prizes too; once a month is a bit much.

Instead of nominating cars, that's all well and good, but you should have a few wildcards of your choosing (we trust you, besides it's your website, you're entitled) that you select from the garage to balance it out, a few of these months had me scratching my head. I suspect we'll get a much better balanced competition that way, right now its more a popularity contest rather than about the cars. I would keep the owners of the cars anonymous, as much as you can anyway, with the understanding that you can't write about the owner in the thread, just the car. The owner could still talk up his/her car, they just couldn't put their name on it. Yes, a fair number of us would know who's car is who's, but that's not the point, many others wouldn't, and as long as people who do know kept it to themselves, it would make for a much better vote IMHO.

Categories would be good too. This would work if you did it quarterly--i.e. maybe classic MINIs one quarter, Countryman one quarter, Modded R53's one quarter, Show quality R56's another, etc. Or you could combine R53's/R56's into one category and/or add a few other categories together, and go every six months, a summer/winter type thing. It would be nice to have a classic MINI competition only at some point though, maybe make an exception and have a seperate one for those when things are slow.

The thing is, once a month, it's really not so "special", it's too frequent and dilutes it too much.

I suspect implementing some of the above will prevent, or at least minimize, future conflagrations. And I think the whole process would be much more fun, and mean more to the winners.

I think most of the entries were in MOTM just for the recognition. And like N2MINI said if you don't have something good/constructed to say, keep the blank out! This was suppose to be fun , a way of showing our MINI/mini's off.

I felt like the contest was too biased towards modified or heavily accesorized cars, some of us like our MINI not so........expressive......but I didn't feel like we'd have a shot without some major bling or mods, so I stayed out.
