The tires will fit under the car. Make sure the rim off set is in MINI's range 45-52. The stock 17s are 48.
I have 215/40-18 now and changing to 215/45-17 without any issues. The overall diameter is about 1/2" bigger. About a 1 mph difference.-

Also, was the Clubman you say the rims were previously fitted on also a 2nd gen? If not, I think there's another spec you need to check. 1st gen and 2nd gen cars have different lug/bolt sizes. If I remember correctly, 1st gen is smaller diam. If so, wheels that fit a 1st gen car might not have a bore large enough to fit over 2nd gen lugs/bolts.
Or maybe I'm not wrong...can anyone else confirm?-

:cornut: WOW! I thought that MINI Ones were only available outside the US but maybe you're outside of the US or imported it. Sorry, no help here on MINI One wheels and tires but a more knowledgeable MINIac should be along shortly.

And do you really mean a pair of rims, as in just two? Then you would need to consider carefully what other tyres the car has fitted. For example, 215/45-17 on the front and standard 175/65-15 on the rear would be an unstable combination under hard braking.

Just to clear up any confusion for other people, 1st generation cars did use M12 wheel bolts while 2nd generation ones used M14 bolts. But.... OEM Mini wheels from both generations have space for the M14 bolts so Mini wheels are forwards and backwards compatible between 1st and 2nd generation cars.
Aftermarket wheels for 1st generation cars might have a problem with 2nd generation M14 bolts, but not OEM Mini wheels.
And of course there is no interchangeability with 3rd generation cars with a 5-bolt pattern.
