Good lord. MINI hasn't gotten a roofline right on a production car since the R53. U-G-L-Y MINI ain't got no alibi It's ugly... yeah yeah... it's ugly! Woo! The concept Paceman had a slight rear rake of the roof and a trim overall roof line. This thing continues the already ugly upside-down Jon boat roof design of the CM while somehow adding the side profile outline of 2 dogs humping. How does a design team take such a beautiful concept (even in just the basic lines of the car) and remove all beauty and elegance from it? I was really looking forward to this car. Now it's just another of the 5 dozen models that MINI makes that I can't bring myself to buy. EDIT: I think I know what happened... they outsourced the design of the back half of the car to Subaru (cover the part of the car from the forward seat backs to the front bumper and tell me it isn't true)! I found secret spy footage of the mold used to make the roof metal:
Welp, that site doesn't allow you to post a picture from it...in fact when you try to go to the URL it comes back with stolenpic.jpg Here ya go Aaron...
Thanks, Nathan! The pic showed up for me... probably because it was already in my cache. For being so nice, I'll refrain from posting the 'Secret MINI production Paceman study' image that I found earlier today... a drawing of 2 dogs humping!
So critical, it will grow on you or hump your leg. I will wait to discuss when I see some real pictures and specifications. So you know, the MINI Coupe was considered butt ugly by lots of folks, MINI and non-MINI. It seems to be selling like hot-cakes, that is all I will say at this point. Don
AutoExpress just got a sneek peek... the roofline rake seems much better in their pics, but the rounded edges still scream 'Jon boat' to me. Perhaps if it had a roof rack and some rally lights... MINI Paceman | Auto Express
