I ran my VIN through the MINI recall site and it came up with nothing, but today I went to the dealership to program my second comfort access key and he told me I was eligible for two recalls. One had to do with insulation in the rear of the car and the other one was for the timing chain. With the N14 engine (2008 Cooper S), I've been nervous about the timing chain becoming a problem, but so far so good. The guy told me to hold on to the recall and use it when a problem starts to arise. Otherwise, if they check the tension and it reads fine, but goes out later, I'd have to pay for it at that point. Didn't make total sense, but very glad to know that if it does go out on us, it will be replaced free-of-charge.

Yeah when mini had my car they threw away the heat sleeve that covered the full length of the turbo oil supply line and replaced it with the recall part that covers the top first 4 inches. It took some effort but I got them to refund the cost of the part they stole...

That timing chain thing is a service program & not a recall. You may want to find out how long it is good for, it may have an ending date.

I asked about the end date and he said that they have been told that it is open ended at this point. I'll double check on it though. -
Not exactly a recall but, got this in the mail last night-
