Maybe the EPA is now setting standards for eye pollution. Now that would explain this delay. :yesnod:

I would respectfully disagree the F56 has been well received, I think it's been a mixed bag, at least with the car magazines. Of the three generations, I'd say the F56 has had the toughest reviews of the lot. There are many that do like the F56, not saying all reviews are negative, but especially in comparison to the GTI, Civic Si, etc., relatively speaking, the F56 isn't fairing so well.

Is this still due to the slow F56 rollout? It kind of looks that way, considering the increase in sales of pre-owned vehicles. If so, I wonder when we'll have "real" numbers that we can meaningfully compare.
The cynic in me would say everyone prefers the previous generation, explaining both sets of numbers, but the realist in me feels it will be several more months until we really can tell one way or the other.
A super cynic would say that everyone who bought their F56's already sold them back, and bought a previous generation, and bargain hunters are snapping up the pre-owned F56's in droves, leading to huge pre-owned sales of all generations. -

For the past 6 months or so, MINI in Canada has been on a push to get used cars, from lease, from those leaving finance or just from owners of late model vehicles. They have offered large incentives to get owners to trade in. Dealerships do a brisk business in MINI NEXT vehicles, so if they can increase stock and drive up interest in the new models, why not? Over all the new F56 has been well received (some older generation fans not included) and the reviews have been very good. People do want the F56. Unfortunately, with the EPA debacle, 2015 supply is non existent and only the remaining 2014 models (of which there aren't many) are available. There is demand and preorders, but dealers can't sell what they don't have.
As a former second gen guy and a current F56 owner, I have to say it's an excellent car and I have no intention of selling it back and snapping up a second or first generation. I doubt very much that MINI will return to making the R53 or R56, so if you want a NEW MINI, this is what you can have. I look forward to seeing the changes to the Clubman, Countryman and all the other models as they are launched or upgraded. Not that the past wasn't great, it was, but it is the past. -

The numbers may get even worse for September. Deliveries had been halted by EPA certification, and might not resume until October.

Somebody at MINI screwed up the certification process. 2015 MY production (since July) is being held at the VDC until it is certified. This is the time of year when all the automakers release 2015 models, and nobody else seems to be having this problem: August auto sales soar to highest rate in 8 years | Detroit Free Press
