Take an extra dally on your seatbelt between Montrose and Durango. Trying to enjoy the scenery plus enjoying your side of the road are sometimes at odds with each other.
The fact that it is ending in Boston has me intrigued. Would only need to use 3 days of PTO and need 3 nights of hotels.....hmmmm
When I did LA to Denver and back in 2010, I decided not to add up all the costs but it does get expensive (I did 14 days and 3500 miles). I would estimate $4,500 - $5,000 for SF to Boston and back (or vise versa) for two people. For 2010 MTTS, we eat breakfast at morning launch parties, had cheap lunches (usually Subway), and dinners were frequently covered by a sponsor party or we ate cheap. Hotels were the big expense. We averaged around $130 a night. Plus there are expenses for side trips/sightseeing tourist type things.
It’s official gang! Here is the route for MINI Takes the States 2014. Now Who’s ready? Remember to mark those calendars for July 26th – August 9th, 2014 and stay tuned to WRR for updates as they happen! (visit MotoringFile for the full article) More...
I am in for MTTS 2014! All of it, coast to coast and then some... I saw when this was announced the dates and the route. Thought about it and I'm going to motor the GP for the trip. A few places on the route I have never been too, and few are like old friends. The motoring, the sights, the smells, the foods, the brews...I'm looking forward to this! Going to head west early, probably five days, then motor back home for five days.
OK,,,heading north during my 74th year on this planet, to Bflo., where I was born, to meet up w/other Mini owners. Looking forward to it !
Mr & Mrs Salt are driving out to San Francisco then will travel with MTTS to Boston. We are looking forward to the adventure. It is great to be retired. We figure we will travel about 10,000 miles. Our last big trip took a year and we burned 10,100 gallons of diesel in our boat. We expect the MINI will do better than 6/10 a mile to a gallon.
I am going to figure out if I can make the final three stages; Buffalo, Bethlehem, and Boston. Definitely interested.
Firebro, none of us MoM's are going to forget the Lexington weekend especially with you coming to Mid-Ohio for the weekend. Trying to put together some fun for that week and get a bunch of MA crazy's to the track.
My wife, Sue, and I plan on driving up from So. Florida and meeting up with the group in Memphis on 8/3 and going the rest of the way to "Beantown". I know it's still early; but, if anyone's organizing a convoy or even thinking of it from GA, TN or NC, we'd like to join in. Please keep us in mind and let me know.
