You R53 and R56 "S" folks crack me up. I personally like my justa and have no need to lay anything on the table and measure it.

I say STOP the recall and use that money for the 2012 WRC season. You all should have bought a Justa anyway.

Yeah, I couldn't quite conclude if that was the case or if that part of the photo was just overexposed and hiding the scoop. There's something odd about the shape of the bonnet...

Don't be too hard on Jim. I was in that fraternity not too long ago. I understand.

The Greenwich Times is reporting that a garage fire over the weekend was caused by a MINI.

I don't write this to scare you but to inform. Please spread the word of the recall to your 2nd Gen MINI owner friends. It doesn't matter that they are not M/A members, the word needs to get out to all. Of course, if you invite them to become members it won't hurt either.

Of course I don't want to see anyone burnt up or their car or their house. I was just pointing out that the lowly justas just seem to keep on ticking, while the other two take a licking. I freely admit that I bought mine for the mpg and had no idea about the reliability of any of them, until I got on the forums, which was after I bought it. Besides, I too may have an "S" in my future. :D

I think we owe a debt of gratitude to our Canuck friends for being the pointy end of the spear and catalyst for the swiftly following NHTSA action.

Now...let's get the turbo oil line issue recalled. It appears that they will already have the turbo removed to resolve the aux. water pump problem, replace the '07 to '10 oil lines at the same time.

Glad to see this is being taken care of. FWIW I would be parking outside until the fix is performed if I had an affected MINI. Wonder if you could get the turbo line replaced for the cost of the part, since it has to came off anyway.

I've just made a practice (since October, when the NHTSA evaluation was opened) of doing a quick check of the MINI a couple of times after I've pulled into the garage and while I can still hear the aux water pump operating. I take a whiff of the warm air convecting out of the bonnet scoop for any telltale signs of anything out of the ordinary.

Three months ago I would have been ridiculed by the masses for doing this. It's still probably a bit of overkill, but much preferable to the alternative.
