It's the same kind of things they have been selling since MINI was introduced. Some of it is very functional too, well thought out items, like the laptop bag I have. Puts up with a lot of abuse and still looks good. The airlines have yet to beat up the hard shell MINI luggage I have too.

MINI and Puma have been working together a loooong time: The MINI/Puma Collaboration (2003)
Some MINI owners don't want to think of their car as a fashion and lifestyle statement. But it is, and was always actively promoted by the MINI brand.-

Lifestyle, image, hipsterism and accessories like this have been part of MINI promotion since the beginning in 2002. I'd even say that it was more a part of MINI marketing in the early days than it is now (because MINI is trying to become more mainstream).
Check out MINI International and MINI Space. They don't seem to be well known in the US but they are official MINI publications that unabashedly focus on lifestyle and have been around since the beginning.
