MINI USA reported the best August ever with sales of 5,718 automobiles, an increase of 83.9 percent from the 3,109 sold in August, 2011. Year-to-date, MINI sales in the U.S. are up 15.9 percent on volume of 43,632 compared to 37,636 in the first eight months of 2011.
It seems with the record sales last month that MINIs are possibly in short supply. Currently the avg days supplies across the US is 7 days. When you consider the adjusted normal across the industry is about a 30 day supply on hand one can see that MINIs are selling rather well. BTW, the vehicle that is selling the worst when using the days supply on hand is the 2012 Infiniti M35h with 206 days supply on hand.
so, what is really happening is that mini sales are up, but that the countryman is extremely popular at the expense of the clubman.
