So our opinions matter? Well I will be damned ! The new F56 is an UGLY PIECE OF S**T! ^^^^ if you don't like my view, don't reply, just skip my posts because I don't care what others think.
... and MotoringFile revises their report yet again. First it was that warranty will not be transferable. Then it was that warranty is transferable but not free maintenance. Now they say both warranty and maintenance are transferable (no change from current). MotoringFile » Archive » UPDATE: MINI USA Not Making Warranty or Maintenance Changes For 2015 Cars So... was it just bad reporting from MotoringFile, or MINI quickly doing damage control after seeing negative reactions?
[ame="http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8SEh1rGwz6U"]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8SEh1rGwz6U[/ame] It can be hard to get the facts straight!
I doubt MINI even knew anything about the story before it appeared. It smells to me like the boys at MF were trying to be relevant and newsworthy and ran a story from a bad source - and then kept changing it and unposting it and reposting it and changing it all day long while they checked the facts. Now the story is a couple of bullet points buried three stories deep on the home page, with a note that says the story was wrong (like it was the story's fault). I would have been a lot happier if the guys admitted they screwed up, said they're sorry and told us they've taken steps to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. Doesn't do much for MF's credibility, does it? Wow - talk about biting the hand that feeds you ...
Poor MF is now going to be on the BMW naughty list, and isn't going to get all those free trips to Puerto Rico or wherever, with assorted meals and goodies, so they may write an unbiased review. They've already lost their credibility--they went from a being a good, independent information site to BMW's mouthpiece a long time ago. If they irritate BMW to the point that they don't get to be the mouthpiece anymore, they really have nothing left. But I doubt that will happen; they'll probably get a wrist slap and nothing else, it serves BMW's purpose for MF to be their neutered biatch.
Me thinks it was BMW checking on the reaction before committing to change. MF will be all right Mother BMW will still take care of them.
MF is just going to blame the new intern. Barry (from MC2) it was his first story on MF.
Read the comments on MF from a MA with MINI: ** Nice Picture of 1/2 of Otto's MINI of Exton service area, our local dealership in Eastern PA. Really funny: MotoringFile » Archive » UPDATE: MINI USA Not Making Warranty or Maintenance Changes For 2015 Cars Motoring advisor Once again, motoringfile finds out something before MAs hear about it. I've seen no bulletins saying this. Reply TheMotoringAdvisor > Motoring advisor • a day ago MA, if you read the bulletin from our BMW side of the house this warranty transfer is ONLY referring to the No-Cost Maintenance Program; NOT THE MECHANICAL WARRANTY. Sales Bulletin: V-1-0514-25 Aftersales Bulletin: B2-A-0514-0014 This truly is a great move by BMW USA to come up with a solution to losing out on the program entirely as Germany has wanted to eliminate the no-cost maintenance program because of its insanely high cost. For those unaware, the US is the ONLY country that has this program in the world (for both BMW and MINI). We see everyday third-party dealers take advantage of having their used MINI's maintained at the expense of those that truly paid for the program; the first buyer. The transfer fee is nominal for those concerned and this is only starting with NEW 2015 BMW's that take delivery after July 1st.
