I don't think MINI is going out of business & really don't follow the sales figures. Our local dealer has so many unsold MINI's on the lot that they may have to find another place to park the overflow. This makes me wonder why this dealer keeps ordering these to put in stock or maybe MINI keeps sending them on their own? I'm not in the car sales bidness, but this sure seems like the wrong way to do this. When I ordered my MINI is Sept 05 there was not 1 MCS on the lot to drive or buy. My how times have changed for MINI.
^^^ YUP Now they have a huge supply and no demand. Maybe the car is no longer unique and looks like every other car but is over priced and not really reliable. (Motor replacements)

Another possibility might be the drop in fuel prices. I wouldn't be surprised to find some of the muscle car crowd with an increase in sales.
It's all part of the plan MINI has in store for us... You didn't hear it from me... But... Be looking for the new MINI ad campaign... The MINI "Fish -N- Chips"special... MINI expects them to do just swimmingly....
Any MF review of anything MINI can be summed up with my newly invented acronym, "IBIEW". Rumor has it they have to wipe their chin after every interview.
I thought that might be the case. Seems to me somewhere along the line there will have to be a fire sale to move those off the lot. Or build a bigger lot?
You can make the most premium product known to man but if'n it's not a product that's wanted there's gonna be a problem.
The problem is BMW isn't making MINI's anymore, they're making small BMW's. And at that price point, people start buying real BMWs. They had a nice niche with MINI that didn't remotely compete with BMW. Now, they're to some degree competing with themselves.
I have heard they do this because once a dealer has it on the lot the manufacture can show the car as a sale even though it was not to the public. Do you know if this is true?

Not quite. They don't count until registered. BMW boosted 2015 sales by having dealers purchase loaners by offering incentives to do so. BMW buoyed U.S. sales numbers by paying dealers to buy loaners, report says
