After years of US MINI fans asking for them, MINI USA has finally made the business case work and will be bringing a Recaro seat option to the US. The seats will be available on the R55 Clubman, R56 Hatch, R58 Coupe and R59 Roadster (i.e. not the Countryman or Convertible). The seats will come only in one configuration; heated with electric adjustment finished in black Dinamica and Leather. Now let’s talk pricing. The Recaro Seats (known as option 4FA) will retail for $3,000 on Cooper models and $2750 on MCS and JCWs. Again that includes the price of the heated seat as well. The option will be available starting with March 2012 builds. MotoringFile
A rag top car will collect dirt, dust and, at times water. The seats would have to be very easy to maintain, IMHO. I'm thinking leatherette. Jim
Nice seats, but wow they sure do want a whole heck of a lot of money for them. Stock seats for me. Too many other things to spend that money on.
I already have Recaros in my car... at that price it it is left to see how high the uptake rate will be.
What is the regular price for Recaro seats purchased aftermarket? They're nice-looking seats; I've never sat in one, so I haven't had an opportunity to fall in love with them.
Lounge leather is 2K, so they only $750.00 more. That is not all that bad a deal, considering the hassle of butting after market ones in. Jim
Putting in aftermarket seats is not that hard. I have a set of Recaros from a Mitisu Evo IX (9) in my R53. I love them and they are 100 % worth it!
You can also adjust for the heated seats, you have to add I think another 500 to the lounge leather to get them heated. I am glad I had not pulled the trigger on my coupe yet.

These new Recaro's don't get me as excited as the European JCW Recaro's. I just think Recaro could have done a much better job, but their hands were probably tied by BMW.
