The 3rd gen model most similar to the current Clubman will be the F55 (stretched 4 door version of the F56 hatchback).-

I think this is the best-looking of the new generation of MINIs. Obviously MINI is going after a market it's not reaching now - and hopefully the company can use those profits to fund the future hotrod MINIs many of us prefer. :fingerscrossed:

:cornut: Not too bad. Is it a lot bigger than the current Clubman, say closer to the size of a Countryman?

Yeah, I dunno... I like some of it, but I'm a bit stuck in the old design. I also don't have a need for 4 doors, even though I like the extra space. Having just come back from the auto show and spending an hour with the new Cooper I realize how much the photos did not express the car. And so it may be with the Clubman, I might just have to see it in order to form a strong opinion one way or the other.
Btw, the first thing my wife said was, "It looks like a Ford Flex." I have to agree and if I was in the market for a new MINI, it might not be my first choice.

If you were out partying and had a few too many, you might drive away in the wrong vehicle....

Looks better than the old Clubman, but that's not saying much. Proportionally, it still looks like a station wagon rather than a MINI; at least the Countryman, which has grown on me, looks like an oversized MINI rather than a stretched one.

The concept pictures will not be the MINIvan that is released. It has almost the same front as the Rocketman concept and we all know where that ended up.

Which one takes more damage in a collision?
Back to the original topic: I like the look of the rendering and the upscale interior. Of course, the real world implementation of the interior will look NOTHING like this sketch (The designers recoil while saying "It looks EXACTLY like the sketch! Can't you see that the air vents in the drawing are kinda similar - um - EXACTLY like the production model?).
I drove a Clubby through an auto-X course at a tire demo event several years ago and loved it. It's a bit more tail happy than the R53 coupe and was a lot of fun to let the back end rotate then accelerate out of the turn. -
