Hmmm that sounds awesome, MOTD falls on/near my wedding anniversary and bad juju to go heading out the door for motoring instead of that. This on the other hand sounds perfect
You have a link or info for making reservations with Fontana Village or just use the listed ones on the MOTD site?

Always remember when making Fontana Reservations - you can tell them you want join the "Dragonslayer's Club" - it costs nothing and will get you a discount on lodging for events and visits that do not have a special rate.

Is this the best time for fall colors? I was thinking about a trip up there about the 10th or 12th, thinking that would be the peak, judging by maps I'd found.

Peak color season varies WIDELY depending upon weather and elevation. In that area, you'll typically drive through some areas at some elevations with peak colors - and others that are either before or after peak - anytime between early October and early November. But unusually wet or dry or how or cold weather can move the peak by a few weeks one way or another.... it's kinda like trying to forecast rain at the Dragon... if it isn't raining, wait a while and it will be....
We've had spectacular colors up there the last two years at this event.
Here's a blog post with lots of photos from two years ago - you can see the variation in colors depending on where the photos were taken.

hey mark.
I checked out the Tar Heel site and one of the coord's is asking about who had already made resv's and under what name. Since I am not a regsitered member to the tar heel site could you pass along? I have done so and under my name (below) not Augie although he will certainly be in attendance!
Also I got a -15% "Dragonslayer Discount" is the group rate any better? -
Tim,
I'll send her a link to this post. I do know that the DS discount is no more -
thanks, when I booked shortly after you announced event she gave me the DS rate. Unless group rate less I should consider myself lucky!
