AutoCar.co.uk is reporting that the new front wheel drive BMW's and 3rd Generation MINIs will be built in BMW’s joint-venture Tiexi plant in Shenyang, China. Keep in mind that MINIs built in China are slated for that market only. Source - http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/bmw-lines-factory-china-build-all-new-minis
Now that would be a sight to behold... Probably only a matter of time before Walmart does start selling cars...
Lifan will be thrilled (buy a fake MINI for 1/3 the cost).... Of course they vehemently deny copying the MINI Cooper.... Hah... China Car Times – China Auto News | Lifan Looks to Fiat and Lexus for Inspiration
I disagree...completely. :frown2: What a way to shaft the car that has made Bimmerworld so attractive for those of us who are not wealthy enough to jump into their M-cars. Hell, why not have them made in YUGOslavia now, too? Grrrrrrr..:incazzato::mad2::mad5:
Smoke a cigar Jeff....the ones being assembled in China are not coming over here. And I use the word assembled very specifically...not manufactured.
I've cut my hands, nearly broke fingers and stripped nuts using Chinese sockets, wrenches, drills over the years. Sizes are incorrect and always breaking I refuse to use them anymore. Also I would hate trying to find that tiny paper sticker underneath my MINI that says Made in China.so I could peel it off.
Great Jeff, now your're blaming all this on me. I hear that the "Justa" will still be made at Oxford only.:lol: Jim
It's well and good that the "Justa" will stay being made in Oxford. Now, if we could just figure out where and how that "Jim" part was made....
