Hey man congrats on the pork chop and you know how to get a hold of me if you need anything.
My Mother-in-law kicked Brest cancers a$$ not once but twice so it's beatable. Then again she is a mean old b**** and cancer may have been scarred of her.

Today Mom got pulled off of chemo, due to a bad reaction with the last round of drugs. So now its on to radiation treatments.
After I get back from the Dragon, I am going to continue with the VA for my stuff now that she is off of the hard stuff. I decided I am not dealing with the Denver VA hospital though, a few friends let me in on a secret, and I will be going to Cheyenne for my assessment appointments.
Thats really all that is going on here now, and I am good with it!-

I never served, and so, am extremely grateful for the sacrifices made by those present and veterans of the Armed Forces. that said, my MOTD roommate was in NAM and suffers greatly from PSTD, so I guess I know a little about what you are going through.
This past Spring, right before we left for MOTD, I took him the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio [about 40 miles from my house], to see the ongoing history of flight. We thought it would help to ease the torment of his PSTD. That place is huge, and Mark had to use a wheelchair while I walked it...4 immense hangers, plus outside exhibits of EVERYTHING and ANYTHING associated with flight and an annex of planes being restored on the other side of the airbase. I'd like to say we saw it all and we almost did, but Mark just could not bring himself to enter the Southeast Asia exhibit..."next year, perhaps", he said.
Even so, he felt that he had made great strides with that visit and, I hope he will one day see it ALL. No hurry...when the time is right, he and I will see EVERYTHING, but next yeah, we will both be doing the wheelchair thing! OMG, I have never been so tired in my life!
One day [hopefully soon], Dick, you, too will have jumped the last hurdle.
Good luck, God Bless, and thank you again for your service!

It's not much better outside of the VA. There is a real disconnect between treatment of the physical and the mental in the private sector as well.
Rick, I know this will be a tough journey for you. Keep your head up and keep moving forward...-

But not so good at the mental...that is where some traditional cultures might have us beat...
Have seen stories on folks going to Latin america to drink root drinks, kinda like a psydellic mushroom, to try to remember, and "unpack" PTSD.... Works for some, not for others...guess since the "human" experience is so different for all, best suggestion I have is to try different things....
Something will work for you, and then you can pass it on to the next vet in need....it is a shame so many of the homeless are vets that have gone down the same road...discarded in the gutter like trash. It is a good time of the year for all of us to remember that family member, friend or coworker that seems a bit "odd", and step up and be there, cause it could have been us.-

We want to help, too!!!
The best way Erik and I can support you is that we can cook you up a great meal.....ANY TIME!!! Just say when! No back rubs but there is an inversion table on the patio you're welcome to use for a good stretch! And you get the lead for Denver Convoy to MOTD 2015! :biggrin5:-

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom's breast cancer, but, I can tell you, it IS a beatable disease. My wife had a mastectomy 4 years ago, went thru chemo, and is now one year away from being classified as a cancer survivor. She was a stage 3. So, you and your family just hang in there and don't give up, ok? It CAN be beaten!
I like the Countryman and would consider one if I didn't already have 3 MINIs.
I would certainly consider one over a Clubman...heck, might as well get a MINI version of an SUV. Besides, as you said, it DOES have MINI's best qualities for a larger vehicle...the name and the handling.I'm glad that having purchased one makes you feel MINI again [no, Dave, NOT Minnie...as in Mousey:devil:].

Having lost a mother to cancer many years ago, I have one suggestion. Don't have any lack of urgency in caring for your mother. Cancer doesn't effect the body in a linear fashion: things can go bad in a matter of hours, so pay attention and cherish every interaction that you have.-

Unfortunately it comes with no discount on insurance, but it does come with extra money...
That $6.00 a day that I used to spend on smokes gets to stay in my pocket now, and $6.00 a day adds up pretty quick! Then it goes right to the cars.-
