It's my first MOTD - going Wed-Sun. I've signed up for the Welcome Dinner, Deep Creek Waterfalls & Rivers End, Donut Run, Rivers End Dinner on Friday, Ice Cream Run, Farewell Dinner and Twilight N Twisties. Glad a bunch of you are going too! Hoping to meet you all at breakfast or dinner soon.
There's a group of us leaving Grovetucky at 7:30 AM on Wednesday if you want to join us on the run down.
Since it is my first go at the Dragon, I signed up for the Dragon Safety course that starts at noon. Will be leaving wayyyyy early...
Things to keep in mind. 1. Say on your side of the yellow line 2. Look through the turn. 3. Don't let those wanting to go faster behind you push you, drive your own pace. But do pull off when safe and let those idiots by. I may be one of the them! Jack's Dragon Safety Video, I hear one most don a Yellow Safety Vest, Hard hat and steel toed boots to view. Seriously, a great video for everyone to watch. While I enjoyed seeing the Dragon again as I wait for this years MOTD, it reminded me of the little things that I sometimes forget when I'm down there. Thanks Nathan for posting this up.
The really nice thing is that over the years, both the TN and NC highway depts. have really improved the turnoffs on the Dragon, so it is a lot safer to pull off and let the faster cars go by. In years past, the turnoffs were few and far between, and deep. Now you can turn off and not risk tearing the bottom off your car.
Sounds good. I was fine watching the video until they showed the mashed up minis and the tree of shame :eek6: I freak when my car gets dirty... I would love to follow along on the drive.
You are correct. That has made driving the dragon much safer. No reason to hold someone up. Last year some folks pulled over for me & I pulled over for those wanting to drive faster than I. One time I caught up with someone who was unwilling to yield, I pulled over & waited a bit.
hanyssa you should join us on our SE Ohio run on April 6th. It's a shake down/test run for the Dragon
I just watched the safety video, I use the CG Lock in my mini. It works great for auto crossing too. They are not that pricey and keeps your seat belt stock. I have one for the driver and passenger. If anyone wants to see how one works let me know.
Hello old friends! Despite not owning a MINI anymore, I'm going to try to make it down this year! Am I still invited ?
