I don't know if it was the fact that I switch from 17's to 15's or if it was the yoko's, but I felt like the car rolled more in corners. I do know that I wasn't too impressed with the traction in the snow. I think I will go with two sets of wheels/tires after I wear out the all seasons on Yertle.

I'll be ordering a set of Blizzaks for Babs Skooby this week. I'm hoping the deal is still in place. Maybe I should bring a box of donuts with me. :donut1:

Well I ordered a set of Blizzak WS70 snow shoes for Babs Skooby. As they have done before they matched Tire Racks price. They are holding the tires for me until the end of November & will mount them up then in time for snow.

    Thanks again Nathan! :D

I'm thinking I need to take advantage of this deal in the next month or so.
Still trying I figure out what to get though. Original size is 175/55/15. I have read I can choose from 195/60/15 and 205/50/15. Leaning towards the Kumho ASX in the 195/60 size. Pretty good price at tire rack. Anyone have any opinions? They will be used for street and spirited MOTD motoring.

I think 205's are a bit wide for the width rim you have. The 195 should be a good fit.

I had a set of Kumho ASX tires on my MINI, They replaced the runflats. They were a decent tire at a value price. They should work well for you.

2 huge thumbs up for Discount Tire. ??.

As I posted last night, [ame="http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/showthread.php?p=118463"]What did you do with your MINI today? - Page 142 - Motoring Alliance :: MINI Cooper Forums[/ame], I had to pull off the road and break out the slime/compressor kit after I picked u a nail. (Big Thanks to Chkmini for buying the kit b4 he sold it to me).

Anyway, I took the car to DT this morning and had them plug the tire. Even though I didn't buy these tires from them they took the tire off, cleaned all the slime out of the rim and tire, cleaned the TPMS module, patched the tire and mounted it again.

    FOR FREE!!!!!

I have been a customer for a while and they were very nice bout this.

Recently used Discount Tire with this deal. Ordered 205-45-17 Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports last Friday. They received them Wednesday and installed them Thursday. Only took them 30 minutes. Saved $96 on tires and installation plus there was a $40 rebate - so in all I saved $136.

I've had good experience with Discount Tire. They seem to do a good job balancing and they treat you right. Only regret I have is not going for the 215-45-17s (they were $21 more per tire). The wider tire looks so much better...

Wouldn't the 215 completely kill your mpg? Just asking.

My guess is probably not. Low rolling resistance tires are what folks use on an appliance not a MINI.

The 215s weighed ~2 lbs more each - I would say that's negligible for MPG. Plus I'd have to brake less in corners with 215s (assuming slightly better grip) and we all know braking is the worst MPG killer of all! My previous tire was 215-40-17 and I was averaging >33 MPG in a R53.

Another thumbs up to the Discount Tire in Grove City. The manager Ryan and his team are very kind and go above and beyond what is expected. I had a pair of new Kumho XS (extreme performance summer tires) mounted and balanced there this past weekend.

Not only did they match TireRack.com's price, but more importantly, they even used tire shine on the new tires to match the old ones :biggrin5:.

Props to Discount Tire in Easton.

Called and ordered tires on Friday, they had to be shipped in from Indiana. Dropped off wheels that the tires would be mounted on Saturday. They were busy as all get out, out of 4 Discount Tire shops in the Columbus area the Easton store was the only one with electric. On top of that there was a $100 rebate on any 4 tires good for the weekend only. They were swamped!

Tires arrive on Monday, by noon I had a call that they were mounted and ready. Even with all the extra work they had and me saying it can wait till things calm down. They tell me to come by, they would get them installed and pull the dead tires off the old wheels.

Had me in and out in just over an hour. Impressive, more so when you consider they were slammed with work as the other stores had still not come online with electric.

All told I was out the door for $1.82 more than if I had bought the tires from Tire Rack. Even more impressive when you take note that Tire Rack has an exclusive on the Star Spec Z1 and Discount Tire had to buy the tires from them for me.

Again Discount Tire did a great job, came in with a price that was very competitive and went the extra mile to do things right.

BTW, the shop crew out there love MINIs.

Just ordered some Continental Extremecontact DWS this morning from the Easton store. The guy I spoke with (Alex) said that the $129 per tire they were charging me was the same price as the $117 on Tire Rack because they factor in the shipping cost from Tire Rack at around $12/tire. Also said that there would be an extra $10/tire due to TPMS. Is this the same experience that others have had?
