Thanks for hooking us up Nathan! This Friday I will be going to the Discount Tire in Grove City and getting a new set of Kumho Ecsta XS's mounted on the Rota wheels. Kumho Ecsta XS - Comparison Tests - Car and Driver Off topic, but is any R56/Clubman owner interested in buying 2 brand new never installed 225/50/16 Hankook Ventus RS3 tires for a good deal? If not, I will return them to Tire Rack.
sizing Hey guys. I need a little help deciding on some new tires. I went to DiscountTire, (Thanks Nathan!) and they have several options but I am not sure what looks good and fits correctly. I got Adam's black 16" wheels from him and want to put them on my car after I get them re-painted. Anywhay, the prices at DT and also TR for that matter are on tires that are not the oem size of 195/55/16. For example I can get either 205/50 or 205/55 in the Yoko s.drives pretty cheaply or I can get a great price on the 205/55 Hankook evo's with a $60 rebate from TR. So, since my car is all stock and standard brakes, do I have any issues with these sizes? Even if they fit without rubbing, will they look ok or will my car develop cankles?
Jeff I just put S Drives on the NOT N MG & I like them very much. I run a 205-50-16 on my MINI & have used that size ever since I dumped the runflats long ago. One thing to keep in mind about any summer tire is they do NOT like cold weather & snow is out of the question.
The Discount Tire in Grove City gets a super A+++ rating from me. The manager Ryan and his team did an excellent job mounting/balancing my tires and were also extremely kind and helpful during the process. Everything was fast and took less than 30 minutes with no appointment. . I will definitely be giving them my future business.
+1 on the S Drives I had them on my Mini and really liked how they drove. Great traction wet or dry (like Chuck said snow = no traction on these) very progressive when they lose traction. When the tires on my Subaru need replaced I will probably get a set of S Drivees for it.
Summer tires in summer Blizaks in the winter. It really the best solution. All seasons really are a compromise tire summer or winter.
Oh, I understand now. Being a retired Federal employee, I thought everything involved "compromising". That's good to know. Jim
Just ordered my s.drives for Friday install. If all goes well, I will have some new tires on my freshly painted wheels I got from Adam, when we meet for donuts Sat Thanks again Nathan for hooking us up.
another deal Just ran into this ad on the interweb. Looks like you can save a $100 this weekend on a set of 4 tires. Link
Good to know. After 14000 miles my all seasons that came on the car are done. For that kind of life I might as well get something with a bit more grip. Not that many good choices on 15s though. Might go with the Yokohama Avid ENVigors.
Chris you can take this opportunity & buy a set of new tires & new wheels. That will free up your oem wheels for snow tire use. Man this is just like me buying new wheels except I don't have to pay for them. Talk to Brian B.A.D. & ask him how he liked his Yoko ENvigorated tires on hos R53.
I'm good at spending other peoples money too! Lots of fun. Still debating getting an R52 so I'm not sure that I want to pull the trigger on that much!
I don't know if it was the fact that I switch from 17's to 15's or if it was the yoko's, but I felt like the car rolled more in corners. I do know that I wasn't too impressed with the traction in the snow. I think I will go with two sets of wheels/tires after I wear out the all seasons on Yertle.
Gettin two new tires on the Ford Expedition from Discount Tire using the MOM discount..... Saving $117...... Yippie......
