Chuck was towed to Best. It was always running but in limp. By the time it was at Best, it ran fine but was still showing codes.
Let's just say it has been proven that MINIs are not entirely amphibious. Photos to come. ORRRRR.... BLUBRIT is not a good BLUBOAT!!! Or.... I could have TOWED you so!
Chuck thought it was the River Run and took it literally... Sorry for the humor on your behalf Chuck!
We came across the same road on the way to Rockmill. We chose to go around thanks for the warning Chuck!
We basically did the Brewery Drive through Alice Rd section (with a few changes) and the caught 32 into Athens via 689 (which was freshly paved and awesome!). I was very impressed with the GTI's handling and surprised how quickly I could pick up speed between corners. The DSG in manual mode was incredible, but made me change my hand position slightly to keep them close to the paddle shifters. I only had to change gears with the shift knob a couple of times' mostly when turning from stops signs or traffic lights. The handling was not exactly MINI like, but I think with a couple of suspension mods I will be able to surpass the Clubby's handling and still be a couple $k under it's the price I paid for it.
What route did you guys take? There are a couple of routes that I've looked at before, but haven't really had the time to go check out.
We had a great run. Aside from Chuck's schwimmwagen. We saw some great car control from Tom. He is just unbelievable. I grumbled about 1 tractor. But I asked for permission to do so first. I can't wait to see Dave's videos.
We had one Honda that was out of it's Element on 374, but it actually gave us some time to look at the scenery until they turned off at Rock House. And there was a truck hauling straw on 33 (it was blowing all over the place)that we were behind for a while, but that was mostly because JMC40 had his top down and I wanted to see how long it would take until he complained about getting straw in his car!
The Blu car is out of dry dock & all is well. John Best put this on my bill, "cleared codes after marine expedition". The bill was sort of like paying a stupidity tax, wasn't painful at all. I did blame it on Anson for lowering my MINI 1/2 inch when he put the JCW suspenders on. Sorry I missed the drives, both of them. Wish we could all drive together. I know none of you guys would have wanted to go boating with me.
I'd be happy to go boating with you Chuck. But in a boat or at least an Amphicar. Did I hear a traffic grumble???
No grumble here, just on observation that slower traffic presented the opportunity to enjoy the remaining fall foliage. Made me realize that sometimes we spend to much time speeding through life (or down twisty roads) and don't always appreciate what is going on around us.
I agree slowing down to take in the sites is a nice thing to do. When Babs is with me that is a request she makes. She does understand my need to carve a corner or two. :arf:
