This little 9" opening in my chest has me thinking that I'm not ready to toss in the towel just yet. To that end I'm embarking on a program to be a better person in many ways. Health included. Later today, thanks to our friends at Amazon, my Jawbone Up24 arrives. I've also installed MyFitnessPal app on my iDevices. Not pointing any fingers at anyone but there are a few of us that could stand to change some of our habits. Please feel free to join me in this journey. I'm also looking for people that are interested in walking with me. Right now these are short walks, but as my strength and stamina grow they will become longer.
Good for you Nathan. Glad you're doing well and looking to feel even better. It's not an easy task, but it's worth all the work in the end. Not only getting healthy, but how much better you'll feel. I'd be more than happy to walk about with you, Nathan, but, alas, I live too far away. I try to eat healthy and I walk my dog a lot, but, a guy needs some vices, so, I WILL NOT GIVE UP MY CIGARS!:frown2::lol::devil:
I'd love to be able to join you too, but I'm afraid I'll have to do it vicariously - I can't do a lot of walking anyway till I get my knee fixed/rebuilt/replaced...... But you're on the right track, just work up to it easy, give your body time to catch up.....

Not overstepping at all. I know I'm going to need lots of ideas and encouragement too keep moving forward. Since I'll be cooking more at home I planted a small box garden with herbs today. Thanks to my brother who carried all that dirt upstairs for me.
Furthermore, I can hear it next year already....let's walk up to the firepit....let's walk down to the General Store....let's walk up to the Lodge....geez!!!!
I'd be more than happy to join you on a neighborhood stroll. Soonest I could get there would be 4 days driving time..... :lol: I'm with you though. We all need to shake a leg and get healthier!
I assume the next thing will be the disbanding of the monthly donut group, huh? Something about donuts not being a healthy food choice or something similar... It really sucks having grown ups on this site :cryin:

I still did a monthly donut last year when I was trying to lose weight and get in better shape and was still able to drop almost 40 lbs. Now that I have a some what consistent exercise routine, I usually indulge in a Der Dutchman donut once every week or two (still down around 35 lbs). Nathan, this is a great thread and has inspired me to make a real effort to quit smoking and to get back to some better eating habits.
Quit donuts! Perish the thought. Part of a full, yet less rounded me, life, is still the enjoyment of a good donut now and again. Heck, I've been spitballing ideas for next years Donut Run at MOTD. Lost weight is found horsepower.
Want me to run a MOM boot camp!? I'll get your ars' in shape! I'll tie a fishing pole to your neck with a donut on the other end.
