Would Washington Courthouse be too far? Let me know...I have a great place for a picnic...lots of room for parking, swimming pool and fun as in yard darts, cornhole, etc. And it would be free...

What a surprise.

So Jeff....let me see if I've got this right. I'm trying to put together a simple picnic since its been said that we never do anything together except go to donuts every month. Not a 15 minute task, you know? The majority of the people live in the Columbus area, I assume many are bringing their children, and I have the logistics of getting food, games and such to a picnic site. Okay, let's put this on an hour or more away from where the majority is. Seriously....I believe you see the picture. -
Sounds fun!

When Tony Burgess formed Mid-Ohio Motoring, it was for the whole state and not just a centralized city. However, times have changed, and what was once an all-Ohio motoring club [HIS activities were statewide] is no longer.
No problem, OK? That's the way YOU want it...seriously. -
Why not get a signup going. Then find a place that works for the most people that sign up?

I think it sounds like a great idea. And would love to come as long as I'm not working. Any particular date you are thinking of?

I don't know about the history of MoM prior to '07, but were there clubs in Cincinnati and Cleveland when it was first created? I remember some joint drives with the Cleveland folks in Amish country and some of them coming down for breakfast and events at MAG. -

If you are talking about Classic Minis, the first Mini Club was in Dayton, OH. It is called Ohio Mini Owners [OMO] and a group from Columbus formed its own club, too, calling itself Columbus Ohio Mini Owners [COMO]. Both clubs exist today as sister clubs and both clubs are very active and even include the "new" MINI in their activities. OMO created the very first Mini Meet East.
I am sure Cleveland and Cincinnati have their own Mini clubs, but, since I have lived in this area for the last 40+ years, cannot speak about their club histories. -
What about the next round of donuts, we do the picnic instead. That would be July 18th. I also happen to have that day off so I would be slightly biased towards it.

Post a calendar for each month at a time [like monthly]. Have all the members who participate in face-feeding mark the day each month that suits them the best. Select the day that has the most votes and do that day, because, as we all know, majority rules. Do this for every month [one at a time].
Perhaps the same selection process could be used in determining a meeting place. No one place should be a designated stop for devouring food. I think it falls under "Freedom of Choice", or something like that. If you use the same format as that of above, it should end all the in-house bickering...unless, of course the clubhouse bullies band together and make sure their days and/or places ALWAYS get the most votes. -
Feeler - MoM Summer Picnic
I appreciate all the input. I think we'll make the day interesting by having a breakfast picnic in Columbus, then drive to Pig-way to have a lunch picnic followed by a drive to Cincy for a dinner picnic. We'll finish the day off by driving to Cleveland for desert. I'll schedule it on a day that doesn't rain and ask Governor Kasich to declare the day a state holiday so that no one has to work. (Just a joke Jeff, pull those underwear out of a bunch). Seriously, I'll have something together next week. -
I've tentatively picked Sunday 7/26 as the day for the MoM Picnic. I will have more information early next week after I lock down our shelter reservation with a deposit. Start time at 4:00 PM going until dusk at Liberty Park on Home Road just north of Powell. This is a family potluck picnic and the park has swings and such for the kids to play as well as sand volleyball and a nice hiking trail. I'll get the brats, burgers, dogs for grilling and everyone can throw in some money to reimburse me. The shelter is next to a parking area that we can use to kick tires if so inclined.

Sunday the 26th you mean?
The 27th is a Monday.
