Post a calendar for each month at a time [like monthly]. Have all the members who participate in face-feeding mark the day each month that suits them the best. Select the day that has the most votes and do that day, because, as we all know, majority rules. Do this for every month [one at a time]. Perhaps the same selection process could be used in determining a meeting place. No one place should be a designated stop for devouring food. I think it falls under "Freedom of Choice", or something like that. If you use the same format as that of above, it should end all the in-house bickering...unless, of course the clubhouse bullies band together and make sure their days and/or places ALWAYS get the most votes.
That's like herding cats. In theory it works but you know someone is going to start arguing about formalities and someone else will argue about the calendar layout and another will get all hot and bothered because there is a new idea and someone will claim that we need fees bc we are so formal and another will act like a dbag to prove a point and another will argue about who is the bigger dbag etc etc. I've seen it a million times. Let's respect the fact that Mark is taking the initiative to get us all together and play nicely... No need for tempers over a cookout. I am Hopeful there is a smoking section for the cigar connoisseurs though. Nevertheless, July 18th looks promising to me.
I agree with Seth that we should be respectful of Mark suggesting the cookout idea and that we set aside the unpleasantries and let the plan come together. Once he has determined a date and location that works best for him, as the organizer, then maybe a list could be started of who can attend and what they would be willing to bring.
And yet a date is picked and a whole bunch of MINI owners manage to travel to the Dragon each year, eat food and have a good time without a bunch of issues.... This is kind of like that but different... If you can make it... Great.... If you can't.... Well, not so much great... It is what it is... Mark... Pick your poison and let's get this show on the road... Oh... And pick a day where it's done raining...
Oh... And pick a day where it's done raining...[/QUOTE] I like rain. Then again, I was born in England where it rains twice a week. Once for 3 days, and once for 4 days.:frown2:
Feeler - MoM Summer Picnic I appreciate all the input. I think we'll make the day interesting by having a breakfast picnic in Columbus, then drive to Pig-way to have a lunch picnic followed by a drive to Cincy for a dinner picnic. We'll finish the day off by driving to Cleveland for desert. I'll schedule it on a day that doesn't rain and ask Governor Kasich to declare the day a state holiday so that no one has to work. (Just a joke Jeff, pull those underwear out of a bunch). Seriously, I'll have something together next week.
Cleveland is in a DESERT???? OMGGGGGGGG...must be from all that Lake Erie beach sand. NOW, I'm worried [you seem pretty interested about the state of my underwear]. :ihih:
Let's see...beer. brats, burgers, and beer??? Yeah, that's worth a ride up Rt.62. I'll bring the obligatory donuts.
I've tentatively picked Sunday 7/26 as the day for the MoM Picnic. I will have more information early next week after I lock down our shelter reservation with a deposit. Start time at 4:00 PM going until dusk at Liberty Park on Home Road just north of Powell. This is a family potluck picnic and the park has swings and such for the kids to play as well as sand volleyball and a nice hiking trail. I'll get the brats, burgers, dogs for grilling and everyone can throw in some money to reimburse me. The shelter is next to a parking area that we can use to kick tires if so inclined.
I'm in. Should be +3. Will let you know closer to the date. I can bring buns and condiments (ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, etc.)
BTW, the date is locked in....the location is the only thing not yet confirmed. Once they have the deposit we'll be good to go.
I'll be driving back from TN - family reunion. Hope to get home in time to unpack the Jeep, hop in a MINI, and make it to the picnic.
