I didnt go on any organized runs last year, and still had more than enough fun going out on my own. There is a lot to see once you break away from the crowd!

The only open off road trail I found started on Hellbender, and ended at the top of the Fontana dam with a Road Closed sign and gate pointed the opposite way! Somehow I wasnt as nervous as the bike path!

 

Maybe he's going to Abarth's on the dragon.... :wink:

I am heading to Fontana this Sunday morning this year. I should be at Fontana Monday Morning after spending the night somewhere in NC.

 

Looks like Hellbender claimed a Golf R this past weekend at Wookies in the Woods. It happened around the curves before you cross the bridge as you head from Fontana to 129.

 

This will be my first road trip, to my first Dragon, in a new-to-me 2005 R52 s. I pick up my car on Sat. in Canton, Ohio and will be driving home to Cincy. Wednesday morning I will be meeting up with the group stopping at the rest area in KY. If anyone wants to meet for a quick lunch between 1 and 2 on Sat. , let me know.

To say I am psyched about this adventure is an understatement. I have never driven a MINI before...

As usual I will be arriving the Saturday before to enjoy an entire week in the region.

 

Nathan is not beating us by much! We will be heading out in both Minis the Sunday before festivities start and will head home the following Sunday. Will be staying in the fantastic cabin near Robbinsville we had last year.

Getting there early will allow time to get many runs in before the onslaught of Minis begins in earnest mid-week :biggrin5:, as well as spend some time in the Smokies early in the week when crowds are smaller, which we didn't have time to do last year.

 

Short week for me...leaving OH on Tuesday and returning on Fri.
