I have a very loud screeching/ grinding noise when I start the car in the morning, after that I can start the car all day long and the grinding is gone. Happens again the next morning, it's worse if the car sits for a couple of days. It's sounds like dragging a fork on a black board. This can't be normal, any ideas? Thank you kindly.
See post #17 in this thread. http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/cooper-s-engine-drivetrain/6099-clutch-options-2.html
Sorry, very new to Forums. Where is thread # 17? Does it have anything to do with the clutch? Thank you
Saw in another thread it's a 2010. Moving this to the 2nd Gen MCS area. As to what could be the cause. Do you have the service history for the car? But it could be a multitude of things. Is it automatic transmission or manual? Could be a bit of belt squeal. Possibly even the timing chain tensioner issue if it has not been addressed in this car as of yet. Have you checked the oil, is it full? When was the last oil change? Did you buy form a MINI dealer, private sale or another dealer?
The service history looks good. I did not see any issues pertaining to this problem and if there were I would not recognize them because I am completely new to Minis. Oil is full and brand new. Purchased the car from MINI of San Diego.
If it's a 2010, it should be in warranty, why not run it by the dealer and let them sort it out for you?
Thank you. Dealer supposed to contact me on Monday. I am just wondering because from the sound of it it seems like a big issue for a car so young. Will post results. Thank you all for your time.
