I have been looking in several places and cannot seem to find What is the DATE of MOTD 2010?
-
April 28 - May 2, 2010
Of course you do not have to be there from Wen - Sun. Some folks arrive early and enjoy a few "quieter" days. Some folks come for fewer days, but this is the event east of the Mississippi that just can't be missed. -

If you need a GPS to get back to your cabin, you had too many Margs at Way's tent.

I'll probably head out the Sunday before making the trek from Dallas to Marysville in one shot. Then a nice easy drive to Fontana the next morning.

40E. But there was a major rockslide in NC near the TN line about a month ago where they said it would take a few months to clean and fix the road. As the event draws near I'll be checking TNDOT to see what the status is.

I've tried the I20 route before and the LA portion is in horrible shape. Major gaps between concrete sections were quite unkind to back with the stiffer suspension I have. -
I agree. In Ala there is a section, I believe it is on I59 The Korean War Highway, north of Birmingham that is horrible. I just stay in the left lane as much as possible.

I'm totally new to all of this. Got my first MINI in Jan (06 Convertible S in Hot Orange). I love the events at my local club here in DC. I kept hearing about this event so I made a reservation at the Microtel. I know it's not as close but it's cheap and I figured it's kind of late to find a good room anyway.
I have no idea what to expect except for driving a really fun twisty road.
I saw that registration opens in Jan, but I was wondering what the cost is to register. What kinds of events are happening at the event besides the fun drives?
I'm really looking forward to it.

I've always likened MOTD as a week away at camp...with MINIs.
Cost to register will probably be the same as last year, $5. You don't have to register to attend but it does help defray the cost of the event. Besides drives there are other events such as a Bingo night, brew swap, wine tasting, cigar salon and if there on Tuesday the now famous Spaghetti Dinner. Many of the drives are more than just drives. There are various excursions such as the ice cream thing, a train ride and a zorbing event.
In addition there is a the welcom dinner, the fairwell banquet and I think some otehr meal type events.
Can't forget that many of the Motoring Alliance sponsors will be there as well with all kinds of goodies, advice and margaritas. -
Thanks Nathan
It sounds like it's going to be a real blast.

What I still think is the coolest part - that the whole county is OVERRUN with MINIs when we're there. When you're in Fontana Village, it's like you live in a cool, beautiful town in the mountains where almost everyone drives a MINI. Wherever you drive, MINIs are there. In numbers. The folks up there call it "The MINI Cooper Invasion". -

We'll for sure have the Margarita party again this year. I hope to plan an extra event this year.
