@kgdblu - sorry, I won’t be able to make it due to “work” getting in the way. Sounds like a great time.
It was a blast last time I went, but I won't make it until Wednesday afternoon this year. My tale from the spaghetti dinner: I can remember seeing Nathan from across the front yard of the cabin during this event. He's talking to someone and I can see him scanning the crowd. He spots me, says something to his friend and points at me. I go strolling over and found that the friend had blown his R53 clutch slave on the drive to Fontana... parts weren't on the shelf at the local MINI dealership, so it was going to be 3-4 days before a new slave could arrive and none of the vendors had one in vendor alley. Luckily for the guy, I had blown 3-4 slaves in a row and Nathan knew I was a bit of a boy scout when it came to being prepared. I walked over to my car, pulled the spare slave I carried in the boot and tossed it to him. A vendor did the install that evening and he was back on the Dragon the next morning. Networking via spaghetti. (Hopefully Rufus, my new R53 won't chew through slaves like my first, but I already have that spare part in my boot-bag )
Great story... why was it going through slave cylinders.. in all my cars I don’t think I ever had one go bad.
No clue. They would be fine for a few months hen start leaking... then fail. It didn't make alter if I did the fix or had the dealership fix it. I finally got one to stick around for a year or so before I sold the car, so I wonder if there was a bad lot of 'em.
Sounds like it.. but I would have to do some more research. That’s a basic part to fail that often... and have other people have that problem.
Oh well... in case anyone in an R53 blows their slave (edit... that just came out wrong... if anyone has a leaking and failing clutch slave cylinder) I'll be at MOTD the afternoon after the Spaghetti Dinner (now returning you to your regularly scheduled programming... the MOTD Spaghetti Dinner )
I'll be there. And just a note on the blown R53 slave cylinder. I was on my way to Minis in the Mountains in 2007, West of Omaha but still in Nebraska when my clutch went to the floor and stayed there. I didn't want to backtrack to Omaha for a dealer, so instead of stopping for the night in Ogallala, I pressed on to Denver. Got in to the dealer at 7:30 the next morning, had the slave cylinder replaced and was back on the road to Estes Park by 10:00. Haven't had a problem since, but thank goodness I know how to shift without a clutch.
Wish I could make it. Won't get there until Thursday AM. Seems 2 1/2 days is the max my Daughter will let my Grandson skip school for the Dragon.
We'll try to make it Tuesday nite, but, we are leaving here around 9 from just above Dayton, OH and I'm not so sure . If we can't get there in time for some food, we'll stop by, anyway.
Katie, huge thanks for having your dinner! Missed MOTD last year, but no way I’m missing your spaghetti dinner this year!
